Winning the first four

Post: # 2001437Post perfectionist »

As far as I can tell, we have won the first four games of a season on just seven occasions:
1950 (we went on to win the first 5, but only three more for the year to finish 9th)
1965 (we lost the fifth, and finished on top)
1966 (we went on to win the first 8, and finished second)
2004 (went on to win the first 10, and finished third)
2009 (went on to win the first 19 and finished on top)
2010 (we lost the 5th and finished 3rd)
2023

We have had a very good draw. As everyone has said, our next game will be a real tester.

People keep saying that we have had a very good draw, but I reckon almost all of us would have hoped to be 2-2 at this point. We've played 2 of last year's finalists. As things stand at the moment, we are definitely a top 8 side.

When Mick Malthouse came to Collingwood in 2000, they were a bit of a mess.

Won the first five games.

The Messiah?

No.

Lost next ten.

Won two more games for the year.

I just hope that Geelong can turn around Fast.

Corey Enwright taking his RTB intel to Kardinia Park next year is not a pretty thought.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

When I met with my two very good Saints mates for lunch (as we do most Saturdays) before the start of the season we agreed that given so many key players unavailable it might be tough to beat Freo, Footscray and Essendon, but likely to knock off the Suns at Marvel, and be 1-3 after round 4.

Little did we know......

A truly remarkable, amazing, fantastic start to be 4-0 at Easter, a huge credit to the players and their coaches, as well as to the President and the Board who had the nerve and foresight to replace the likeable Ratten with 'that turncoat bastard Ross Lyon'

I hope Geelong are in the wilderness for the next 20 years but thats not going to happen

They're the only Victorian team with a true home ground advantage. Bit like the interstate teams really.

As far as Enright is concerned I hope we reward him with a good pay increase

Our chances against the Pies will improve significantly if their two rucks are unavailable again next week.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.
