Gotta give credit, a lot of creativity going on in this thread, a few outlines for some episodes of CSI possibly!

He swung at him well off the ball, collected him high and gave him a concussion. That's all that is going to matter.

A hard lesson to learn for Caminiti, will cost him $$$ in the way of match payments and possibly his spot in the team going forward with players coming back.

I wouldn’t call it a swing. This is a swing.

He hit him with his forearm just as he crouched down. It would have got him in the chest otherwise hence why I don’t think it should be graded as intentional.

But yes, off the ball and the outcome is all that is probably going to matter unfortunately.

Yes true, more of a jab than a hook, but obviously nothing on Barry.

What did he get for that, 8 weeks? And I don't think "provocation" did much to help his case either.

How has he complained? By getting concussed? I would think the reaction when going off the ground and then speaking to Caminiti after the siren probably back up that he was not really thinking straight, which Craig McRae alluded to in his post match conference.

I fully expect that at the tribunal Murphy will do the same as most players, say that it was just a back and forth in the heat of the game and he moved his head at the wrong time and caught an elbow that was probaby intended as a push/hit to the chest. I doubt that will be enough for some posters here, who seem to think that Murphy is now a racist (with no evidence) who should be giving a grovelling apology to all saints players and supporters for starting a standard push and shove.

I personally think many posters have overreacted to Murphy‘s actions. Describing it as a king hit, and a filthy, dirty act is well and truly over the top. His actions, whilst provoking, are actually quite typical of 99% of defenders. He threw an arm which connected in the shoulder, chest region of Hammer. It was to prevent hammer from pushing into him so that he could then make a lead. Certainly wasn’t a king hit. If the swinging arm had hit him in the face or head region then of course it would be.

Obviously, the outrage we are all feeling should be directed at the tribunal or MRO rather than at Murphy. 4 to 6 weeks is absolutely ludicrous. Hammer was extremely unlucky and I feel his intent was just to push Murphy away.

I also reckon we need to be careful about posting slanderous remarks. What a Hard Saint posted is to be honest, quite outrageous, unless it can somehow be proven. Or, in fact, St Kilda bring it to the attention of the AFL.

Good post, given what we are starting to learn about concussion I think it naive to comment on the behavior of any player who has suffered a concussion post incident.

if the afl allow people to snipe and try to intimidate opponents (and by not sanctioning murphy that is what they have done - what they have always done) then the afl is at fault for any accidental damage doen to a player in retaliation. if caminiti had deliberately gone for the head - fair enough - wear a suspension. if caminiti was simply throwing a forearm back at the chest - again long sanctioned as ok by the afl - then there's no case to answer for anyone but the afl itself.

I have an awful feeling of dread over this

Takes me back to the Baker disgrace etc

I think they will make an example of him (as an unknown player) and he will get 6 weeks

The defence should go hard on the fact that Murphy was slipping/sliding/falling and therefore a chest hit became a head hit

If you saw the Melb/Ess game Charlie Spargo ducked into a tackle and effectively got knocked out in the tackle, the free kick did not go to Spargo because he had ducked

My point is that if the AFL can rule that your actions constitute a high hit then in some regards it is on you

Obviously this is different as it is off the ball, but the principle is similar

By the way where is one of the 4 umpires looking, I thought the 4th umpire was bought in to watch ahead of the ball for situations such as this

The term in behind play is very dubious and creates hysteria. Both Murphy were involved in the game and were involved in contact on each other. It wasn't a king hit or from behind. Still no one can tell us what part of Caminiti made contact with Murphy.

“Behind play” is an out of date term given the speed of the game etc.

No one can confirm if the concussion was caused by that incident either.

Caminiti will get four weeks and we will not appeal the decision. Pity his surname is not Lynch or Hawkins.

I think he’ll get four weeks.

For accidently - and in retaliation - catching high a fellow with a glass jaw - who arguably shouldn’t be playing if the league is serious about the long-term effects of repeated concussions.

Our counsel should go great lengths in mitigation to point out that Anthony is just a young teenage kid - of just five AFL games - who has been copping a lot of physical attention.

He is a boy trying to match it with the men. Whistling in the dark so to speak

We can only play "what ifs" because of the lack of vision. But what if it was a push, and Murphy's concussion was due to his fall.

You only need to look as far back as last week to find a similar incident.

As long as we don't use the barrister we used for the Baker/Farmer Tribunal.
IMHO he completely stuffed that hearing up and is mainly responsible for Baker getting the weeks he got.

So far in this thread Nathan Murphy has been referred to as:

- Soft
- Weak as piss
- F****** gutless clown
- Wimp
- Pussie
- Cowardly filthy pig
- Squib
- Coward
- Pillow
- Poof ta
- Low life piece of crap

Clearly these posters do not understand the game, the level of courage it takes to play at this level and have no concept of players in the competition and how they are regarded by their peers.

Anthony should get 2 weeks absolute maximum (hopefully 1) IMO, for careless contact.

FWIW I have known Anthony since he was 10 and Nathan is close mates with my Nephew so he has grown up around our family, both great young men out having a great crack at being professional sportsmen. I'd have a really good chuckle of some of the tough hombres on this site had the opportunity to reiterate these comments to his dad Shaun or a couple of his uncles

Lastly, here are a couple of videos of the pussie, wimp, squib, coward plying his trade on the footy field.
Jono Brown describes Murphy as really courageous, but what would he know compared to the Sainstaional footy experts

I think the descriptions of this dropkick are spot on. The creep hit Caminiti from behind then has the hide to whinge when he gets sat on his arse. Typical Filth player.

There is definitely an argument that Murphy's knees buckled just as Caminiti was shoving him back.
Almost as if he was trying to sucker a free kick.

But Caminiti will get weeks anyway.

If the tribunal accept that argument it might be 2 weeks, if not it will be 4.

3 or less is a win

Given your personal descriptive contributions of the young man are as follows:

- Cream Puff
- Dog
- Coward
- Cowardly filth pig
- F****** gutless clown
- Creep
- dropkick

It should not come as a surprise that you are not only the chief perpetrator, but you openly condone the trolling and online abuse of a young sportsman.

Since I have retired I have volunteered for metal health organisations such as LIVIN and Beyond Blue and have a daughter who is a Clinical Psychologist working with teens and young children who have been horrendously affected by online bullying & trolls.

Comments by a poster here such as "it's a fan footy site" as an excuse for this abhorrent behavior does not justify the actions.

BTW: press the white arrow in the red oblong box on the above video links, if you want some footage of this F****** gutless clown in action on a footy field.
