I did not nominate because I do not like the way it is drawn - why cant it be the number of points we kick and pre-published like last year?
Also - number of shares have to count for percentage chance of winning the same as if you buy a book of raffle tickets vs 1

Nope, I just use the demons scoreline as a seed to generate the random winner as I was closest to the final margin.

Sorry for any confusion, the random winner picker does take into account the fact people have more shares than others - people just asked me to come up with ways to be involved with the way it generates the random winner as they were feeling left out so I thought I'd do it based on the scoreline this time.

The event is far enough away that I haven't generated the winner yet if people still want to nominate to be in the pool - thought it was a bit odd that only 2 of us were interested.

Can you do the ‘seeding’ BEFORE the game so everyone knows where they stand in terms of the score lines?

And I say that not because I don’t believe the system but it adds an extra element to the game to know that you are close to the event etc

I must not be getting what you mean - I'll try and explain how the random winner works and maybe you can tell me how to make it work with you guys being able to be involved in it

Anyone who wants to be in the draw for a particular prize nominates - you get 1 'ticket' per share. All the tickets are assigned a number, then a random number generator generates a winning ticket number from that list (it actually generates 5 in case the 1st person who wins can't go, etc.). Obviously the more shares you have the higher chance your name will be top of that list.

To generate that 'random' number you give the generator a 'seed' which can be anything - the reason I went with whichever scoreline someone got closest pick to this time was to keep it as random as possible - we didn't know who would get the closest, nor what that number would be so there's no way to game the system in anyone's favour. The reason a seed is required is because computers can't create truly random numbers on their own (although it's a pretty low probability it will pick the same number multiple times), but once you add a seed it makes the probability of it picking the same number near impossible.

I did not read this thread again after I threw my hat into the ring, so was somewhat confused to get a message saying I had won the event! Since having received that message I have obviously returned to this thread to understand how I won.

My only question - should I wear black if it is not officially a funeral?
