Injury List - Updated 14/02/08

Post: # 518548Post Oh When the Saints »

Injury Update - 14/02/07
Nick Riewoldt (knee tendonitis) - 2 weeks
Sean Dempster (knee) - 4 weeks
Steven Baker (ankle) - 1 week
Andrew McQualter (thigh) - 1 week
Luke Ball (groin) - 2-3 weeks
Jayden Attard (ACL) - indefinite
Adam Schneider (quad) - 2-3 weeks
Matt Maguire (rehab) - 2-3 weeks
Brendon Goddard (rehab) - 2-3 weeks

Sam Gilbert, Jason Gram, Lenny Hayes and James Gwilt are being rested.

:)

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Could have sworn it was Dempster with soft tissue and Schneider with knee in the other thread.

This thread could deserve bookmarking, as it states that by Round One of the season proper, we should have everyone bar Attard (LTI) - and possibly Dempster (4 weeks) - available to play.

I am sincerely hoping!

no chance

i wouldn't be surprised, actually i'm expecting, that most if not all of those players will still be unavailable round 1

our track record with luck/accuracy reports form the club is terrible, and i don't expect it to change

I'll state now that every one that is 1, 2, or 3 weeks will be available for selection H&A Round 1 against Sydney. That being everyone except Baker (susp) and Dempster (4wks knee)

BIG statement. I'd say we'd be lucky to have half, going on our recent past.

doom and gloomers are missing the good news in that list

BJ only 2-3 weeks and probably by round 1-
and Goose not far after him.

Knee tendonitis is a bugger of a complaint - very painful, hard to shake off, and can really restrict the ability to do a lot of running during a game.

We may be seeing Riewoldt playing out of the goal square a bit this year with Koschitske pushing up the ground. Riewoldt will have to be managed very carefully.

Well for all the positive vibes around about our fitness team and hearing reports from the players that everyone is travelling so well compared to last year, I think that list's bloody disappointing.
When did Dempster suddenly have a four week knee injury?
Roo suppposedly had a virus as the reason for sitting out the intra-club now he has knee tendonitis.
Didn't know Schneider had a quad and Bally, listed as (groin - 2-3 weeks), they as well put how long is a piece of string given his history.
Not happy Jan because it flies in the face of all the spin coming out of the club.

My understanding is that Riewoldt's knee soreness has been brewing since mid January. The positive is that it didn't flare up two weeks from the start of the season proper.

We know he had a solid base up until January, so some rest now might see it settle down a little bit without adversely effecting his aerobic fitness.

Anyway, let's hope.

Also, I notice in the Herald Scum that Gram has a hip injury. Is this the same hip injury that troubled him for nearly all of last season?

Another worry, as he's in out top 4 most important players.

Dissapointed and agree with the area highlighted....

All of a sudden the news came out.........

players
coaches
admin................pushing the great spin etc etc for weeks.........

understand why they do it.....

but just makes the news more deflating.....

but how serious are the injuries!!!

Agree Chook. Am pissed off with the club. Just shows that we're not not immune from spin doctor bullsh*t just because we love the Saints. Very deflating. I was off the impression that apart from the known rehab guys Goose, BJ, Attard and Bally that everyone else was ready to go.

Pretty much agree with the above two posters' sentiments.

At least there's one we won't see this year..........

Bally is a concern still.....2-3 weeks groin, whatever.....who knows, could be like last season....

Anyway, if Bally is rooted, then I hope Judd is also......at least that's some compensation....

I can see reason in the hush-hush approach over Alfredo Di Stéfano, frustrating as it is for the members and supporters.

I'm backing Bono to reveal all in due time.

No chance that our injury list is accurate.

IMO probably none or maybe 1 or 2 will be fit and ready to go for Round 1.

The Pre-Season is always on fire untill it comes time to name a team.

Goddard.
