To all those who thought our 1st Qtr s#cked

Post: # 596522Post Sainter_Dad »

We were at the game and at quarter time I joked with the guy sitting next to me that there was a 4 goal wind. He laughed and said there was no wind at all, however the following enventuated.

To the end we started at (North I think) a total of 5 goals 14 were kicked for the evening - including Fishers one that snuck in. This equates to 44 points - or 11 per quarter average.

To the other end 16 goals 13 were kicked for the evening - equating to 109 points or 27.25 per quarter - about 3 goals differential.

So the South end was a 3 goal advantage. I like to think Roo knew it was the scoring end - was hoping we would start fast and restrict their scoring then come home with a wet sail. Maybe that was wishfull thinking.

I am not saying it was a great quarter - but to slam the boys for their errors when 5 goals 14 was kicked by both teams to that end for the night is a little much to take........ Or am I overthinking things.

PS I also said the the guy next to me that we were home and hosed at three quarter time - coz we were coming home with the wind - and we kicked 6 to 1.

PPS I also think that a game where we kick 122% and get the 4 points - pretty - or ugly - is a good game.

Jeff - There obviously was no wind - but for some reason South was the scoring end - (except in the third when we kept pace with the Kangas) I think this is the quarter we won the game in!!!!!

I must admit I was surprised there was no wind at all when we got to the ground as the wind was pretty strong on the foreshore.

The goals we kicked up that end from the right pocket looked like there was a breeze favouring that end but I didn't feel any.

What end is towards the sea?

It is a well known fact that balls gravitate towards the sea.

Was it overcast at all? Perhaps the ball was swinging.

Wind?

All credit to the boys for coming back from a deficit. The kangas looked rooted after their win v the 'Orks last week.

Let's not get caried away yet, just enjoy the fortnight.

It was a clear night, great for footy. But I must add, Carrara really isn't near the sea.

Maybe that's what happened to Kerr when he jumped on the stingray.

Not used to the cold St Kilda water.
