Will Milney be de-listed at the end of the year??

Post: # 620708Post azza12 »

What are the chances of milney being on the ST Kilda list at the end of the year?

A lot of the media have said he should go i disagree
I think we should keep him

oh he is goooooneeee. I love ya minley, thanks for the memories, but he is way way too inconsistant. Simply cant sustain a player on the list he plays one good game every 6 or seven.

We have to trade hard, have to, some have to go, just a matter of who.

There will be list changes at years end, there will be trades hopefully but it's
all guesswork and opinion until it happens......

Milne will stay is my guess but i'm betting the coaching department are talking about how to restructure the forward line come draft/trade time....

Saints looking like a bottom 4 team in 2024.

To add a bit of perspective to this thread I know that not one Collingwood player is un-tradeable.

Make of that what u will.

That goal he kicked from the boundary brought back memories of 02-05...good ol Milney!

I'd have my life on him slotting that more than he would from 30 out on a slight angle!

Because from 30 out he persists in dropping the ball across his boot. Which by the way, is the wrong option and just makes him look like a complete fool.

Now I have to add, I love him at the same time, BUT he just dosent play the percentages and is extremely frustrating!

Absolutely no chance of being traded or delisted, IMO. None. But we'll see.

  • 5th Highest Goal Kicker in St Kilda Club History
  • 2002 St Kilda Leading Goalkicker
  • Only small forward in the AFL to average 2 goals per game
  • 2nd St Kilda Leading Goalkicker 2005, 2008
  • On track to kick 50+ goals for the 3rd season in 2008
  • Has kicked at least one goal in 17 out of 18 games played in 2008
The bloke is 28 and one of our most consistent performers over his career. If Koschitzke and Schneider to name two delivered similar performances the Saints would be a far better team.

Without this guy we would lost 2-3 goals per game from our forwardline.

What are we going to replace that with?

Milney is fantastic, and some people have no idea about the difficulty of playing in that position, especially with a forwardline into which delivery is so poor.

I hope he is delisted.

You can argue that he's kicked one per game or whatever for however many games - but what else does he do? He kicked 2 great goals last week but he contributed nothing else. No fwd pressure, no hardness at the footy, no consistency in his game whatsoever. he had 8 possessions last week (2 until half-time) including 3 clangers and 0 tackles.

People people! Are we just going to want to keep everyone and still expect to trade our way out of this dogs breakfast , before the two new teams rape the draft??? Dosent work like that!!

2-3 per game this year ... where do we get those goals from if Milne goes? Yeah ok someone else might make 1-2 extra tackles a game and get a few more possessions, but hurting the opposition on the scoreboard and kicking goals is what we struggle with. Milne can do that.

Hard question ,don't think we have anyone to replace him at present, maybe Schnider but hes been disapointing . He really needs to be more consistent & he not a pup anymore . Jack Steven by all accounts is an up & comer but I havent seen enough of him to make a judgement. Has been a player that has thrilled & frustrated us all over a long time but he probably need something special in the next 3 games to keep his spot.

As frustrating and inconsistent as he may seem he will not be just delisted and given away for SFA.

However, he has trade value and one that should be looked at come trade time.

Schneider had a better game than Milne on Saturday.

We've done some dumb things in the past, but trading or delisting Milne isn't going to be another one of those acts. Even though I was a big fan of GT, his idea to get rid of Milne didn't sit very favourably with me AT ALL!

I'm a big fan of Milney! Always have been, even through some of his dumb moments, I can take the good with the bad with a player of his calibre!

If the team look alive, and they didn't on Saturday night...they ARE dangerous! I seriously don't know what's holding back their performance...or their desire to perform. That's the disappointing thing.

trade milne you have to be kidding. He has kicked more goals than almost any other small forward to have played the game. He is the 5th higest goal kicker in the clubs history and has kicked more goals than Riewoldt and started the same year. He has also averaged more psessiosn this year than in his career.
