In 40+ years and 600+ games I can't recall more tension in a quarter of football.
And more excitement at the end ?

the whole game was tension dimension. never thought we were the better side until the champion goaled with 6 to play. how crucial was the out of bounds call against aker.

Felt surreal.

I was trying tp hold back tears the whole last quater, the stress got a little to much for someone sitting a few rows over from me they were carted off by ambo's not too sure what happened was in MCC though hope they are ok.

You could nearly feel the tension/expectation in certain patches in the game where 1/2 goals scores would have a history making capability.

Enjoyed celebrating the result; but I can't shake that sinking feeling of Geelong. Definitely going to enjoy the week though and not hold back...

I was pretty much as tense from the opening bounce to the final quarter...Not a healthy way to watch a game of football

Sheer anguish for most of the game. My stomach was in knots. The tension was getting unbearable, as it began to look like we could lose...

Then roo's fist goal in the last got us all pumped up again.

His second goal off the ground sent us into delirium. We were jumping up & down all other the place.

After the game, I felt like I'd just road the tour d france.....

I'm still buzzing....can't go to sleep.....

Oh, after that Roo goal to seal the game...wow. Everyone was just jumping for joy hugging eachother. Finally, WE;RE THERE AGAIN!

Yeah....

that game was hard work.

My brother turned to me after it all calmed down a bit and said "that was the most horrible experience I have ever had at any event". And I agreed.

It was terrible. Absolutely terrible. Twenty minutes into the last quarter of a Prelim and your freakin losing a close one. Only one thing could be worse and that is leading twenty minutes into the last quarter of a prelim and LOSING> Feel for you doggies. You should have knocked off the cats in the first week.

Apart from the result, not a lot of enjoyment....

That would have to be one of the longest stressful situations I have ever been in. I mean that was so intense!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought Roo kicked that goal with about 10 minutes to go until I watched the replay and realised there was only 1.15mins, unreal. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Saints, never put me through that again. Just smash who ever next week, I need stress free footy.

Oh, I can - just over 43 years ago. The games were very similar - Saints just behind at half time, just ahead at three quarter time and a frantic last quarter. As in 1966, it was the skill and desire of our best players that got us to the line.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a good old one sider (for us) just for once.

It was probably the most excruciating and glorious quarter of football I've seen... and I think the quarter in which Roo entered the very upper echelon of football greats.

Absolutely. What a champion. He lifted himself into the list of the greats of the game with the most inspirational last Q of footy I can remember. He is just an amazing player. A champion. Our Captain.

I have watched the replay of the last quarter 3 times now.

I still get almost as excited each time as I was at the G last night.
An AWESOME quarter of relentless pressure.

And we stood up big time.
TOTALLY INSPIRATIONAL.
A replay to keep and play again and again.

More importantly it should reinforce our self belief and give us that extra edge to deliver next week.

From the 20 minute mark I started watching the clock, calling out each minute.
From 25 I was calling each 30 seconds.
Each scrum would burn up another 20 seconds as we inched towards the siren.
I swear that MCG clock was running in slow motion.
Longest 30 minutes of my life !

oh it was awful. until roo got that second goal and we knew we were home, cos people behind were yelling out how much time was left...then it was just tears of joy and disbelief. we have finally made it.

very very tough game, the whole game was stressful. My dad and two of my brothers are huge bulldogs fans so while i was absolutly pumped and one of the happiest moments of my life....i was so shattered for them. I know exactly how they are feeling cos we have been there before, and it was so close to being us last night.

The whole last quarter I was having trouble breathing. When Roo kicked the sealer I went into convulsions and the emotions of the whole event just overcame me, I felt like I was going to ball but held in the tears.

One of the most incredible and agonizing experiences of my life.

After the game, just jumping in the stands, was pure ecstasy.

I seriously wondered during that last quarter if there were any medical issues in the crowd or in the TV audience.

The stress levels were off the scale.
Sweaty palms, high blood pressure, dry mouth.
I realised I was sitting right on the edge of the seat and following each play with body language.

My wife refused to go as she couldn't handle the pressure (she had to go out the back during the Collingwood game).
If you had a weak heart it was a danger night.

Just hope we didn't lose any supporters.
Particularly elderly ones in nursing homes hanging on for a Premiership.
