Ball or bust

Post: # 842437Post PJ »

Which is the more likely

1/ Exchange with 3rd club for Fev

2/ Exchange for high draft pick

3/ Exchange for another undisclosed player

4/ Do deal back to saints

5/ No deal PSD

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I think getting Lovett will yield us a draft pick only now for Ball, due to the salary cap

Best situation for us would be to trade him for a top 30 pick and hope Carlton take that for Fev (which is unlikely, but if they did jesus christ we'd have a good team)

Most likely unfortunately I see him going to Collingwood for pick 30 and some hack and that's it.

I reckon he'll go PSD and on to Melb.

We don't need a Collingwood flog, nor a low pick.

I've said it elsewhere...

Ball to Collingwood
Davis to West Coast
McKinley to St Kilda

or

Ball to Collingwood
Davis to Fremantle
Peake to St Kilda

If McLean is worth pick 11 and Lovett is worth pick 16, then I'd say Luke Ball is worthy of a pick in the early 20s. He'd have been a certain first rounder a couple of seasons ago, but his value will have dropped somewhat after this year.

Collingwood's 2nd round pick is around 30 and perhaps a little below market value for Ball. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised to see Ball go to Collingwood as part of a 3-team deal. Maybe something like Ball to Collingwood, Davis to an interstate club and a 3rd player coming to the Saints. Freo and Peake would be a possibility, but I'm not sure the Saints still covet Peake after adding the pace of Lovett.

we would lost on both of these trades.
ESPICIALLY THE PEAKE ONE!
we have to drive hard with ball and get more then we should
be greedy!
and if nothing happends by friday, get something but dont let him go to the pre season.

remember some very good player have come from late in the draft.

I know it's not gonna happen, but imagine this:
Ball and 3rd rounder to Collingwood for pick 14
Goose and pick 14 to Carlton
Fev to St Kilda

Gilbert - Dawson - Baker

Gram - Fisher - Blake

Montagna - Hayes - Lovett

goddard - Riewoldt - Schneider

Milne - Fevola - Kosi

Gardiner - Dal Santo - Jones

King - X Clarke - Ray - McQualter

you cannot have fev kosi and Roo in the same foward line.
it would be too top heavy.
i would lose kosi.

Dream on! Collingwood will use 14 on Jolly.

A forward line of Roo, Kosi, Fev and BJ is far too top heavy. We've got 2 quality talls in Roo and Kosi plus 3 smalls in Milne, Schneider and Mini. So we need a medium forward to compliment them, plus a younger small forward to eventually replace the aging Milne.

I can't see any sense in trading for Fevola unless we're moving Kosi out of the forward line. That means either trading him away or perhaps moving him to CHB. However with the question marks over Fevola it's a risk I wouldn't take.

Would West Coast be interested in Bally to work with Kerr? What's their first pick around?

Just tell Kosi to stay in the square and split packs or take pack marks. It's about all he does now so I don't see the difference.

That's the deal for me. A medium forward who marks well, regularly kicks goals and works hard. I'm not sure if I'd do McKinley for Ball straight up, so we'd want to get maybe a 3rd round pick as well.

I'd be amazed if Peake is still sought by St Kilda after landing Lovett.

We'd be better trying to get Kennedy from Hawthorn, MacDonald from Brisbane or someone else that can either release BJ to play as a 3rd forward or be that 3rd forward.

OX is a tool... he would be reading BigFooty & sprouting posts made by 13 year olds as fact.

Mcdonald would be good inclusion to release BJ

ball and our first draft pick for lovett and fev....where the salary cost of lovett and fev is the same as that of bally and the draft pick. Sounds good to me. Well except losing ball.
