Not sure anyone could accuse him of being biased tonight. Was measured in both his criticism and compliments of both teams. Did not detect any sour grapes. Great to see a former player finding the right balance.

Yeah he was good.

Bruce had some interesting things to say...When 44 got the ball late..

Or was it just me?

Probably one of the best and most unbiased of the ex-players going around. Much prefer listening to him over James Hird or Matthew Lloyd...

i always had the impression harley was a really good, humble guy. would be a great mate to have.

unfortunately he played for geelong. was never an outstanding player but you can see why they made him captain. geelong would've just about done anything for him.

thanks for your insights and your balance in commentary tonight tom.

Has been great, excellent comments. Sour grapes? Who'd be sour if they were Tom Harley? Seems like a top guy, but he'd have to be the luckiest premiership captain in history, never rated him that highly as a player m'self. Knows the game well though.

If he was biased tonight it was only slightly, but hell who could blame the poor guy probably rode every bump and tackle as if he was still out there.

He actually hurt his hand thumping the desk and snapped a pen in two. He had a laugh at himself and said there will probably be complaints that he was biased. He knows his stuff that's for sure

I've always wondered why they have pens. Is there a test at the end of the game?

Much better than the S---- & Dung pair.

Unlike Luke Darcy, he is a fair and balanced commentator.

I think he is a fair and balanced commentator. His comments offer insight and more often that not add to the commentary rather than Darcy or Jackovich who take away from it with bias and stupid comments.

I thaught the good natured banter about him having a sore hand from thumping the desk as we kicked more goals was very amusing and Harley seemed to take it with a smile and even made some tounge in cheek comments himself.

All in all I think he adds a good element to the broadcast

Actually funny you say that, in the absence of Dennis I thought the commentary was fantastic last night. Bruce called it as it unfolded, didnt try to be funny or smart, Leigh Mathews and Tom Harley were fantastic offering solutions for both teams and insights into what they were trying to do.

Commentary was great and I also thought the umpiring was good as well. Hardly any holding the ball calls, but obviously they were instructed to pay a 50 if they were abused.

Did Bruce actually acknowledge StKilda were playing????

Most of his comments about StK were that he was surprised Geelong were not winning....He is a total F***wit..

Matthews is awesome....met him at the Hyatt yesterday....he calls it simple and as he sees it....Bruce and Huddo are over the top Knobs

Harley does nothing for me. I didn't notice him at all last night until he came up with the classic when Scarlett totally misjudged Steven's kick and then claimed he touched it on the line.

"Scarlett wouldn't lie about that"

If that's the kind of insight he's going to provide, you may as well bring back Dipper.

I agree Bruce was much better when he called on his own. No more of his forced laughter at Cometti.
