i don't mind the clash strip.

also, i don't care what jumper they wear. it's only a jumper.
+1.

Come on, this alternative strip is head and shoulders above some of the recent ones. Who can forget the complete white on with the broken up shield?

And the more white on the strip, the more we can see Collingwood blood and tear stains.

The current board, each and every member will go down in infamy as the culprits directly responsible if they do not do a last minute modification!

Hopefully we win, but in years to come everyone will be watching this game and asking , we waited 44 years to win one and then we won it wearing this shyte because of an incompetent board and their inability to respect the traditions of the St Kilda Football Club!

They knew the last clash jumper was on the nose and promised something we would all love, they F****** UP big time!

I was also promised by Archie Fraser that the members would vote on the next design, this ended up being a LIE and total bullshyte!

How simple is it to design a clash jumper that keeps everyone happy?

Instead of the black going all the way around the back like the home jumper you just take the red panel all the way around the back and this clashes with noone for away clash games!

You can even wear red shorts!

It's so simple it's one plus one stuff!

But the current board F***** UP with this white abomination with a white panel as wide as the great wall of China!

Even a home jumper with a white back clashes with noone and would have been a popular away jumper given that it still maintains our home jumper on the front!

Demetriou says boo and the whole board jump 15 feet in the air!

The AFL know we are easy to mess with, that we will bend over and take anything, so they continue to do dish it out!

Even this year we wore that awful away jumper in a HOME game against Essendon, WTF is going on, what message are the club sending?

Aside from being LIED to and promised a vote on the new design,

I find it reprehensible that the board have not got sufficient levels of perspicacity or perspicuity to have got this jumper right to begin with,

so that in the event of a so called clash in a Grand Final at least we would have a home jumper maintained at the front,

because only the back of the jumper needs changing for clash games!

As for the club going so well onfield we can all thank the PREVIOUS administration for the appointment of Ross Lyon, the current board inherited this decision, they did NOT create it!

Please make a modification as suggested NOW!

This should have been done from the get go, but the incompetent fools on the board F****** UP BIG TIME!

This whole wearing a clash jumper would not be such a bitter pill to swallow if at least the home jumper was maintained on the front of the jumper!

I'll even pay for the modification to get the sewing all done before Saturday!

Looking forward to the annual B4 show at the AGM this year.

He might go even further and create a board challenge ticket.

2011 will see us playing our home games at Junction oval, Rix recruited as first ruck, and the AGM held in a dumpster in Hawthorn.

It's a bit like getting to heaven and refusing to go in because they're giving you 74 virgins instead of the expected 76.

I wouldn't let it ruin your week.

I raised this EXACT issue in 2008 at the AGM and gave advance warning because I saw this as a possible outcome in the next few years and just two years later, it has come around to bite them!

They can expect mayhem this time around!

So disapointed that, what started is a whisper,is now fact: The St kilda football club has officially allowed Collingfilth to win the first battle.

So glad we have fans who are St kilda through and through, and possess the passion to be outraged by this injustice.

But, unfortunately, there just aint enough.

Well done Eddie, You've won the first battle

5 prelims in 7 years. 40 wins from 49 games.
2009 and 2010 were 2 of the 5 best years ever by the St.Kilda FC.
Thanks for all your efforts Saints.

How is this a battle. The real battle is saturday and if we win that we have won the war. Who cares what jumper we wear if we win. in our 6 GF we have worn 4 different jumpers so what is the issue. Is it that a few of us have our ego's bruised because we think Collingwood have won. Well they may have their home jumper but I bet we will feel a lot better than them come 5pm Saturday when we win in the red black and white which are our colours.

I would be SUPER fired up if we had finished above Collingwood and were being told to wear our clash strip.
Then I would be DEMANDING our board to stand up for us - or face being voted out.

But Collingwood did finish on top (albeit with their biaised uneven playing field draw), so I am not fussed that we are forced to wear an away strip because of some perceived (or created) clash.

Perhaps the club sees it as a marketing opportunity?
They can now flog 44 jumpers - the 22 match day plus the 22 presentation jumpers.

The whole point is Ok we have to wear a clash jumper, BUT

it's the actual jumper itself that is the REAL issue,

it would not piss off members nearly as much if we had an away jumper which still had our home jumper on the front,

it's only the back of the jumper that is the so called problem,

so only that needs to be changed to either white or red!

What is inexcusable is that the white panel is so wide and why on earth was this done?

Not forgetting this clash would not exist to begin with if it wasn't for the whims of McGuire who changed Collingwood's jumper with AFL approval 9 years ago, therefore creating a clash that did not exist previously!

Collingwood get away with everything 18 home games a year 8 home games at the MCG leading into the finals etc...etc... because it creates more revenue and then Demetriou can attempt to justify his greed and annual $200,000 a year pay rises!

I just spoke to Ross Levine on the phone and he promised me he would raise it amongst the board and hopefully this can be looked into and rectified for next year!
As much as this annoys me for this years GRAND FINAL, as I warned the board two years ago about this exact thing, a possible clash with Collingwood in a Grand Final etc...etc...
there is nothing that can be done now,

so best to focus our energies on smashing the filth scum!

No mate, my GREAT GRANDFATHER supported St Kilda in the 1880's and heritage and tradition mean a lot to me!

I warned the board two years ago about such an outcome as this regarding playing Collingwood in a Grand Final and how inappropriate the new clash design is, suggested the home jumper with a white back so the white panel is not as wide as the Grand Canyon etc...etc... would be more appropriate if this eventuality occurred, but noone listened at the time and just two years later it has come to fruition!

Anyway nothing can be done now, except to HOPEFULLY talk to the board over summer and ensure that this is never repeated!

Anyway hope things are good with you!

Just quietly, it could spark a marketing craze if we win. Who wouldn't buy a Grand Final 'edition' top?

Anyway, the point is this. I'd rather win it wearing pink lycra than not at all. And let's be honest - there is a clash, Collingwood did finish top, and we do have an alternative that works.

Besides, it didn't seem to bother....

...England when they won their first World Cup in 1966:
Image

...Manchester United when they won their first UEFA Champions League trophy in 1968:

...Chelsea in the 2008-9 FA Cup Final
Image

...Liverpool in the 2000-1 FA Cup Final
Image

...Or even tradition-conscious Juventus when they won the Champions League in 1996.
Image

...Or even fashion-concious AC Milan when they won the CL in 2007.

Fact is this. Win it first, worry about aesthetics later.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

The only thing is our away jumper is shyte, that is all!

The board introduced this shyte jumper that was avoidable, that is all!

Our HOME JUMPER with a WHITE BACK would be a very good alternative, that is all!

I warned the board two year ago about this very thing, that is all!

YES I AGREE, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO WIN THE PREMIERSHIP!

Let's all take a deep breath...

The AFL madates that the clash strip be predeominantly white

If I recall the Club's advice from the release of the 2010 clash strip is that it was mirrored from one worn by the Club in the 40s & 50s. I'm pretty sure there is a picture of Coconut Roberts in the same jumper in The Point of It All - although it has a collar and the STKFC logo is much bigger

As for the rant about an incompetent Board, consider this:

- 40,000 members
- 3 consecutive Prelims
- 2 consecutive Grand Finals

Yep, they're pretty hopeless this mob.

We should bring back the other blokes...

Agree, we should be wearing our traditional jersey.

Its bs that Collingwood get whatever they want and we just have to do whatever the AFL says...

Total bollocks.

I'd rather let both teams use their traditional jersey and screw the jumper clash bs for the GF.

What if the players are actually confused by the jumpers?
