What saints are lookig for on Sunday

Post: # 1841082Post saynta »

From afl.com.au

"They'll be looking to get Dan Hannebery on the park after the former Swan missed the first two pre-season hitouts. He was solid when he played a full intraclub in early February, but despite being slated to play two of the Saints' remaining three games against actual opposition, he was absent from both clashes with Hawthorn. Minor groin soreness is believed to have kept him from the second game, but only narrowly, and he's expected to play this week against Collingwood. But, he was on light duties again at training on Tuesday and will have to step things up later in the week if he's to kick-start his campaign in the final game after a disappointing first year as a Saint. - Jennifer Phelan"

f****** disappointing!!!!!

Yes it would be terribly disappointing if he didn’t play in a scratch match...

Agreed Saynta!

It’s not disappointing he is missing a pre-season game, it’s the pattern of fitness issue that have plagued him since joining the club.

Year 1 was a bust.
Year 2 started with a broken foot and limited pre-season.

Dan Hannebery, spectator = money for jam.

So far.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Fake news.

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/st-kil ... 921fefcbfb

“The 28-year-old will be unleashed against the Magpies as Brett Ratten looks to find his best midfield mix ahead of the season-opener against North Melbourne on March 22.

The former Swan didn’t face Hawthorn in the two practice matches over the past fortnight, but foxsports.com.au understands that the plan was for Hannebery to play two of the four games – including the intra-club – ahead of Round 1.”

Should have been given Freeman's number.
Big stuff-up, ridiculous contract length for a crock!
Has the bloke that decided to get him gotten his bonus yet?

I posted on here back in November he would really struggle to be right to play round one.
I hope I was wrong but I fear that I was very much right.
A fractured foot means that he was always going to have to increase running loads to catch up to build up his fitness and this in turn puts pressure on the hamstrings, lower back and legs in general.

I think we’ll learn a lot this year about how this is going to turn out

If he plays 15+ games with the majority good or better then the deal is pbly salvageable considering his contract
If not... well it’s almost untenable though we’d be locked in

Yeah because his coming off 22 games last year and not earning 800k a year.

It’s a concern.

Surely with the big bucks thrown at Hill and the fawning over him by all and sundry - we can't be critical if the Hannebury recruitment?

You need to get these guys to your club. Some you pay overs for, some you don't get the full value on your investment - but you have to have a crack.

My tip

He’ll play 18+ this year

Will be in leadership group next year

Will return to near career best form

Will prove you naysayers wrong!

Again, just my tip!

Contrary to the tone of what is put on here generally, I am reliably informed that St Kilda is a pretty happy place to be ahead of the season proper and what the real competition results in.

The Coach has his support staff, including his IT support including ex Hawthorn and the AFL - noting the Coach's bent for analysis and dissection where he is of another planet.

The players are all up beat and confident (and I acknowledge that if they are not in that space ahead of the season there is a problem).

The Club is coming together aka Hawthorn but with the benefit of there being no Clarken.

It is a hard gig to win a premiership with many things plus luck required - but St Kilda are in the competition with the objective of having a crack - a real crack.

And we trust Number 21 continues to put smiles on faces.

Confirmed tonight by Simon Lethlean on 3AW. Said he could have played in either of the past two weeks, just the way the club is managing him.

Now, for crying out loud, get off Hanner's back.
