Sammy gives GT a rap in that interview as well :P

anyways

my contribution towards everyones life mattering

Ethnographic accounts of Tasmanian Aborigines in the late Holocene document a different picture to that of the late Pleistocene.
Most of the 50 or so bands were based in coastal areas (Figure 1), and seasonal movements favoured the coastal zones in winter months (Jones 1974).

None remained inland all year, nor did they frequent the rugged ranges of the south-west (Plomley 1966: 128).
The typical absence of clothing at the time of European contact demonstrates a remarkable degree of cold tolerance.

These peoples practised all three fundamental human behavioural responses to cold — fire, shelter and, at times, clothing in the form of short wallaby-skin cloaks.
Artificial shelters included wind-breaks and temporary huts (e.g. La Billardi`ere 1800: 99-102; d’Entrecasteaux 2001: 31).
The use of huts was seasonal,
with those on the exposed western coast of more substantial construction(Jorgensen 1829: 48-9).

thats not a bad effort

light fires , sew skins together and build huts
whilst running around in the nuddy

riddle me this
The presence of humans in the Tasmanian region during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM)is attested by cave and rockshelter sites dating from 35 000 years ago (35ka). These are concentrated in the remote south-west highlands (Cosgrove 1999)
they lived closer to the ice sheet than they had to
but inland and higher up

must of been somewhat unbearable on the coast

windchill maybe ?

In contrast, the ethnographicand archaeological records suggest that this south-western region had only ephemeral use in the Holocene.

We all love the Saints...

Basically any tidbit of info that surfaces about this club gets our attention, and almost all of it, on some level, is interesting.

But how you guys consistently manage to turn what could and should be interesting and listenable into the most dreariest deadly dull content imaginable is really beyond me??

How many times do we wanna hear Lenny tell us about his dads influence on his decision to play footy, or his mates ribbing him about playing Aussie rules? or about Hamills move to Moorabbin? or his respect for his former Blues teammates?

Is that really the best that all THREE of you can muster?

Jesus fellas, your podcast has all the life and appeal of a rain soaked pie, for the love of the Saints PLEASE lift your game!

Look again it's the Flash!!

Heard a report on the radio this morning about a recreation of traditional Aboriginal middens (don't know the spelling, sorry) being built on a sacred site in North-Western Tasmania. The middens must be built on a site which has been officially deemed significant by elders and historians. It would be fascinating to see how people lived in Tasmania pre-colonisation, because I have spent time in a hut in a camp ground in Tas when it was snowing and it was absolutely feezing.
