Horrendous kick of the ball there has been no one as bad as him. Gilbert was pretty bad and for his position and role Lonie is a bad kick.

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
Yes Alan Sinclair had a shocker at Moorabbin one day - in those days you could sign a player mid week (i think he arrived from Fitzroy)
Was that 1979 or 1980?
Kicked about 7 points in a particular day - including from the goal square
Lost the game only just
Things you remember. The next week he kicked our first goal from the boundry 45 out at the Lakeside oval. Saints fans were on our feet (although standing room only)
Lost that game by aprox 100 points. Did not see much of Sinclair after
Jack Daniels kicked a great goal in the 1996 pre season cup grand final - we knew we were in for a good day. Jack is still a sainter - seen him on the train is saints merch with his son

Joffa Cunningham was a tough and fine footballer but a a real butcher!
Big Carl had a funny way of holding the drop punt but a few of the rucks weren't too flash with Spider the exception.
Gresh is as bad a set shot as you'll see.

I always wished Jayson Daniels had Craig Davenport's skills & Davenport had Daniels desire & hardness.

We used to call Stephen Newport the Spy because he always kicked it to the opposition. Nobody can top Jayson Daniels. Used to love him on the wing though, hard as nails.

Clint was more an awkward kick, and an underated player in my opinion.Peanut Farm wrote: ↑Thu 06 Aug 2020 4:11pm Wouldnt even get a game in the magoos these days - what a horrible kick.

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
In his early years Stewie was a shocker. I remember one game where he took a free kick for out on the full, tried to kick it down the line but the ball never went back into play. Became a very reliable set shot, so there’s always hope.

Clint Jones.
He didn't even have a preferred foot and could have been as effective if he'd just punted with his knee.

Bongo Payze wasn't a flash kick.

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
Davenport was a bit soft, but he was pretty skillful player from my recollections.
He wasn’t in Jack Daniel’s league of poor delivery...Jack had few peers.

Would be Daniels in the modern era.
But he made up for it by being such a ball winner.

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
Gresh is a pretty ordinary up and under kick right now- if he could only penetrate with his kicking as it is the difference between a good and a top midfielder.

Used to call Spiro Koukoumelous "SLEW" because of how often the ball slewed off the side of his foot.

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
I note the references to Craig DEVONPORT ( note the spelling ). I was at the SCG when he played his first game for our reserves. He played on Mark Browning and kicked 11 goals. I thought he was the new George Young. However , aside from a few handy games here and there Craig turned out to be a frustrating disappointment .

Re: Worst kick ever at the Saints
The spelling has always confused me, I never reconciled it was spelt the same way as that beautiful Tassie town.George27 wrote: ↑Fri 07 Aug 2020 8:26pm I note the references to Craig DEVONPORT ( note the spelling ). Great memory & thanks for mentioning the forever great George Young. Sadly, the best thing he did was to transfer our frustration to Carlton.

But on the other hand I saw Spiro snap an absolutely brilliant goal from the boundary line in front of the members stand at Whinger Hill.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 07 Aug 2020 5:03pmUsed to call Spiro Koukoumelous "SLEW" because of how often the ball slewed off the side of his foot.
