“Jack Billings is a free agent. The Saints are happy to keep him, but on their terms. They’re not going to pay more than what they think he deserves, he’s got a multi-year deal in front of him. Genuine chance to go if he wants opportunities elsewhere or a better deal elsewhere and the Saints can get a second-round pick back in return as compensation.

“Luke Dunstan has had a great revival in the second half of the year, there’ll be clubs that are interested in him, I think the Gold Coast Suns are absolutely going to be one of them at the end of the year. He’s a free agent so he can do as he pleases.

“Seb Ross I’m told is eager to test the market and see what’s out there. A two-time best and fairest and a free agent, so like Dunstan and Billings he can do as he pleases.

“I think especially Dunstan and Ross are more likely to leave than Billings, but all three could absolutely leave at the end of the year.”

I'm sure Shaun is a great bloke, but I've got no idea how our list management thought he was required in the first place.

Absolutely we did, but someone of even VFL standard would have been more suitable.

Gee it's going to be thoroughly fascinating to watch the Billings negotiations play out. In economics it's called a market correction and in a few weeks time we will finally find out what the market thinks.

Is access to credit still incredibly easy or will we see the first signs of financial strain wash upon our shores.

Well, it looks like there is a significant shake-up happening.

Now let's just hope they get the replacements right.

Not before time.

How do you rate Darren Rath - Tony74? It seems like last week Ratten goes into a game with a plan and when clubs like Geelong deny us possession we have a complete inability to change it up?

Ratten spoke about losing contested possessions, but when you are completely reactive to what the opposition are doing that will always occur?

I would much rather see us adapt the Sydney defensive model of playing 5 meters off an opponent in your zone?

Any thoughts?

Good

Because first it was Richo holding us back

Now it’s those darn assistant coaches

Next it’ll be the bloody Dietitian or the Fitness guys

Here’s a thought
Maybe, just maybe - it’s the list??

The state of the list, the composition of the list, the demographics of the list and importantly the health of the list!!!

Players make coaches look good
Not the other way around

I’ve seen average coaches win premierships but yet to see a poor team win one!

Gees that's a tasty job for a cricket person. An experience of a lifetime.

Well done Jamie.

Anyone know who's driving this? Lethers, Bassatt or Ratts?

I guess Gallagher has supplied all the bullets and laid out the salary cap situation vs return for $ and market comparators and it has made the Board go Oh. Lethlean and Finnis would pick up the mood of the Boardroom. Just hope they can do something about cheering it up. Ratts would have a shopping list to help them.

The very slow development of Coffield and Clark and Clavarino and the stagnation of Billings and Lonie and Long and Joyce suggests that the development staff do need to be held accountable. Players developed elsewhere such as Wilkie and Highmore and Higgins are stepping in and taking their spots.

Are the same development staff that have seen

Highmore, Byrnes etc… perform well?

And the continued development of Wilkie etc…

Maybe these guys just were never that good.

Coffield and Clark still have tons of time to become really good players.
