Poor Jack Hayes 😢

Post: # 2006381Post Sainternist »

Geez Louise! The kid has had zero luck in the last year. Apparently he has done a hamstring injury, which will set him back another 8 weeks. Just brutal!

Players in rehab doing hamstrings is now a pattern.

Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action.

Something is terribly wrong. Too many re-occurring soft term injuries.

May be a case of "good riddance" to Walsh

Lots of moving parts here Saynta. We actually have someone else in charge of rehab. Who is responsible to someone else. I’m not giving names but it’s never one person’s fault.

A week ago, I said Hayes may not be offered an extension after this year.
And I was abused and told to eff off.

I'm not gloating but look, how old is he, 24?
SANFL maybe wasn't as strenous as AFL, so he didn't develop the same way as the typical kid who went straight into clubland as a teen and got all the exercise and flexibility, and weight training advice from experts

Why is Walsh the fall guy? There must have been some concerns over his performance? The injury numbers and players being re-injured during rehab have become ridiculous. Something had to change...

Do we have a problem?
If you had been to any pre season sessions you could see how brutal they were. To get to the top you have to go to the extreme levels. The players all bought in. I mean if you had gone to Moorabbin on Boxing Day you would have seen senior players doing continuous 400m sprints- on their own fruition.
After Max hurt his shoulder his running sessions were unbelievably hard- to the point of exhaustion. Coff, Dmac, the amount of laps that did in the pool.
Is it too much. For some obviously, for others it’s made them into incredible resilient players. Everything is easier after the event. You can have every high performance stat possible, but the muscle is still a rubber band. We’re just trying to get it to its peak as that’s what’s needed to win a flag. Two steps forward, one step back.
But as I stated before not one person is to blame. No one in this business is a mug.

This is the best practice structure G. Walsh, no relation, put in place?
Or is rehab contracted out to Serco?
Anyway hopefully the penny has dropped.
Very costly institutional snafu.
Like if hospitals are dangerous how might our rehab programs be rated, safer than Khartoum worse than Kiev?

if we end up with more injuries than any other club due to training methods or the most soft tissue injuries overall then surely there is cause for concern.
I hear you Tony..I want the guys trained to the maximum....

No question there’s been a line drawn and Walsh has worn the brunt of it
He’s a good guy but let’s remember his appointment was interesting to say least
No process
Previously ran AFL mental health program
Prior to that was assistant at GWS …
I’m not sure he was THE most credentialed
He also oversaw fitness in the season we allowed players to choose their own pre season adventure
I think Misson /Lyon might be demanding
I hope they are
