Not at this junction anyway.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

I think we all knew we had exceeded even the most optimistic expectations.
Time to turn the starting 22 over a bit.
King Billings , Webster, Butel, Windhager all to push for selection

The system that got us a few early wins has quickly been found out.

Ross and the brains trust need to get back to work.

Maybe not. But getting flogged in Adelaide and Brisbane is common to many sides.
We are still evolving, injuries and suspensions have made for poor continuity and the very long standing problem of forward efficiency remains. Really missed a fit Gresham, I suspect. The younger players will have down periods, we seem to be going through the slump most teams experience. Adelaide is a killing ground.

Of course not but we've positioned ourselves for a free throw at the stumps.

Against the backdrop of Ross Lyons year of exploration games like today tell you as much about players and the game style as some of our wins.

For mine- we carried too many players who couldn't impact the contest AND couldn't use the ball under pressure.

I wanted Sharman in but was poor today.
Paton is depth and gets squeezed out.
Byrne's has had a good year but was poor today.

Ideally you can provide both impact and skills but if you have a day where you're poor in both you should he in trouble.

I'd bring Webster, Windy and King (membrey) in at a minimum. Gresham, Bytel or Billings to fight for sub and Steele's spot if he doesn't get up.

We know what we're going to get from a RTB side .
What we need to be ultimately successful is 3 or 4 champions of the game . Currently we have none .
We do have some A graders and a couple of kids that are showing real potential .
Bog average team again

You can't win every week. And you will even cop the odd flogging.

Nothing went out way today. Adelaide played out of their skins and couldn't do a thing wrong. We butchered easy chances. The umpiring in the first quarter was diabolical.

It was just a s*** day. Plenty of good players to come back in, if we lose next week I'd be worried but no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater just yet.

I think Firey is the only fan who believes we can win the flag this year, were there any others? Highly doubt it.

even with all of our first choice players on the park we absolutely can't, the list way off the premiership pace, will take Lyon at least 3-4 years to get the side he needs to contend.

I was half expecting this loss, though not as heavily by any stretch.

The way Adelaide played their brand of error-free football, pinpoint passing, suoer-fast ball movement and some outstanding big men of who Tex walker was in sensational form, they would have beaten every other team in the comp today.

It struck me that unlike the Crows, St Kilda do not have anywhere near sufficient big bodied talls which is especially important in the forward line to outmuscle the defenders.

As has been mentioned, a disjointed forward structure once again cost at least 5 or 6 goals, probably more when you consider quite a few of the Saints forward entries were turned over only for Adelaide to then score at the other end.

The question now is if this exceedngly poor performance is likely to be a morre realistic indication of the team's potential to play finals.

Next two games against Western Sydney and Hawthorn before the round 11 bye are going to be crucial.

Disappointed, but not dishearted!

Crows were excellent today. Marked and kicked everything.
We seem to have dropped our pressure rating significantly since opening rounds
Adelaide did to us , what we were doing to other sides.

We will beat GWS and then Hawks and will be sitting 8&3 at our Bye Round ... same as last year

Except this year we will make the 8 (likely bottom half) but it will be a step up from last year

Looking forward to see what we will look like with King Caminiti & Owens sitting forward

The blistering speed of the game, at every contest blew my mind. It was like watching one of those neural network animations.

Sadly for us, I think our game plan was built around speed, structure and discipline, not talent, creativity and cunning

And they just out did us.

And we made discipline errors

And the biggest worry is that we can’t blame individuals or expect replacements to make a huge difference..

Except for

….the king

Long live the king.

It felt like every time we stuffed up a good chance they went up the other end and scored. They were so on, kicking goals from nowhere and Tex was at his very best.

As someone else said I reckon they'd have beaten most sides today.

The Crows were exceptional but we made them look good as our pressure was way down.

Players down across the board.

Same old poster starting threads when we lose.

The 2 goal turnarounds were momentum killers

I counted at least 2 - the Caminiti one where he could have had a shot or passed it off earlier to Owens

And Marshall miss from 20m out dead in front

On both of these they took it down field and kicked a goal immediately after

Giving up that last goal of the 2nd quarter was terrible as well when we worked hard to get back into the contest

I just watched the Saints Footy review. My ears pricked up at the mistaken selection of Cooper Sharman and the infamous Caminiti bounce. Oh spare me. These two fellas are kids in football terms. Where were the leaders today? No names required but most were poor to say the least. We will probably drop Sharman and let some well-paid experienced players remain. Therein lies a problem.

Caminiti might be young but his decision making in that instance was shocking

Firstly he should have kicked it immediately to Owens and not taken the bounce

Secondly he should have had the shot after he took the bounce and Owens got closed down

2 bad decisions .... hopefully he learns

It would have brought us back to within 4 goals .... game on
