Max Heath

Post: # 2019221Post saintbob »

It’s time!!!

I hope the they plonk him in the goal square today and tell him if he kicks 4, he’s in next week.

We need to replace King with a big body, someone who can take a few grabs and bust some packs and Max is the man.
He can also give Marshall a chop out in the ruck which would allow him to go forward as well.

I know a lot of you don’t think he’s ready, but I think we need to give him a few games and see what he can do.

That's exactly what I said to my mates last night saintbob, it's a perfect time to debut Max Heath, he's almost 21 and he's served a long apprenticeship at Sandringham.

There's no good reason to hold him back any longer and blooding him in the firsts will be a much better learning ground for his future development!

Form isn't up to it, selection integrity imperative. We are not 3-11 and looking to next season at this point in time thanks

Selection will be very interesting this week with 3 out injured.
Battle back and 2 others in.

That's before anyone else gets dropped.

Given availability, Battle, Hill, Higgins and Clark are certainties

So what does that do to structure given King and Cordy out?

From watching a bit of the VFL game today, other than Clark no one did enough to demand selection

Some tried hard but that was it

And it is acknowledged that apart from Campbell they are a bunch of kids still developing

Max Heath had 13 HO as sidekick to Tom Campbell, and kicked 3.1 today.

Have you actually watched any of his VFL games? He is more than up to it and is the type of player who I believe will excel at the next level. His combativeness and 2nd efforts would make him a better option than some might think. He does get pushed around occasionally whilst rucking but that will improve with maturity and strength.

I agree with Saint Bob it time!

Wont debut this year, it's his own personal choice as he's very aware he's not ready, performance backs that up.

Have watched a few including some of today. Not ready for AFL yet and at 21 and a big guy no rush either. Look how long it has taken English ( a top 10 pick) to become a good AFL player. patience is needed IMO

I'd like to see Heath get a game.
He would be another tall option down forward and he could ruck when Roma has a rest.

So what if, score wise, he gets donuts. That would put him on par with Caminiti's game against Melbourne.
And his handball skills might be better than Hammer's.

He kicked 3.1 so he won't be in now.

Then how come Pooh keeps getting gifted games to fumble, drop marks, handpass to nowhere, even kick into the man on the mark from point blank.
Pooh may well be a star in the future but at the moment he is a liability.
Makes the team look like it only has 17 players on the field.

Perhaps injuries have seen him given games recently and agree his form will put him under pressure, however different position and if you are correct then we will end up with 2 players who aren't yet ready.

Phillipou has been gifted games because we had no one else to come in. Now that we are starting to get some soldiers back he position should come into question IMO. As stated he is going to be a star, but needs to work on his game in the VFL for a few weeks.

Just for the record, Tim English was drafted in 2016 and played 2 games in 2017 (aged 20), 7 in 2018 after which he became a regular in 2019 for Footscray.

I would argue that there is no better way for young blokes to learn the game than by playing in the senior team, there's no good reason to hold Heath back any longer as he won't get much better playing with Sandringham.

When Suns defenders watch a package of Pou's games, it will go for about 12 mins as he only gets 5 touches per game.
Defenders will secretly think 'I'm under no real pressure here, he's just a big boy'

And that's why these forums are great as we all see things different.
English may have been a regular but 2019 and 2020 he was toweled up regularly , sometimes dropped and was owned by Marshall/ Ryder in the elim final 2020. Since then he has filled out , got fitter and played well.

That aside i don't see where he fits in our team as is still learning the forward craft. leading patterns etc and I do'nt see the need for a second ruck - now if something was to happen to Ro, then the case could be made for him IMO.
