Caulfield Grammar Players

Post: # 478772Post n1ck »

Ive just started some coaching work at Caulfield Grammar, and was wondering about who in the VFL / AFL came from CGS?

I know the obvious ones are Judd and Goddard, McQualter also.

Dean Anderson was School Captain in '85 i believe and theres been a whole host of Richmond players.

Who else?

Can include any other big name 'celebrities' if you can think of them too!

There was some big drug dealer who fled the country and has been on the run for about 15 years. McMillan I think his name was.

Ron Walker went to Caulfield and actually stayed down a year. Hows that for a big comeback.

Funnily enough, I discovered that Nick Cave lives about 500m from my relatives in the South of England... in just a little country town / suburb nearish to Gatwick airport.

I think he actually did one or two subjects there "after" he was drafted.

Definitely Caulfield Grammar, via St. Kilda primary. (By the way saw him on Monday night at the Forum, great gig. Can't believe he is 50!)

Quite a numer of the Boys Next Door / Birthday Party were Grammar boys

Nick's sister still lives in the bayside area and is (I think) a music teacher at a local school (as is Paul Kellys sister I believe..PCW or Star OTS..whichever one it is Paul wrote their school song)

Well, being a fellow student myself at CGS, I know stuey Maxfield went there-89, Ando-85, Stephen Newport, the Kellaways-Wheelers hill Campus, I also Believe Goddard and Mcqualter were boarders at Caulfield. Obviously Judd, of course, Damien Ryan who played for Tiges and Saints in late 90's and finished up 2001 and also Chaffey. Also Schultz, another guy called Thompson. Plenty more I am sure. Rombotis went there too

Paul Kelly's mother was music teacher at PCW.

Nick Cave was a boarder at CGS, he was from Wangaratta.
