I would love GT to be a part of the club again.
Very smart man who I believe could once again contribute positively.
Instead of the club paying him out, get him back on board, the man is a natural player manager.
I find it a bit hard to understand a lot of the negative vibes he gets around here when we all know how many positives he introduced.
I still reckon he has the club at heart.

Exactly why I did it, most were saying what a great job he was doing at the time, the way he kept our stars at the club for less, and got us into the finals but all of a sudden some on here want to burn the guy at the stake, silly really when you think about it.
He is after some money? Maybe he is owed it, his mate Rod may not have handled things as best he could.

He paid the maximum of the salary cap....and actually overpaid the playing group so that we had to play upto 2 players short.

Why is his performance better than other clubs who managed to keep their players and play with full lists?

Personally I think GT would've been a great footbal manager. If thats what he wanted to do.


But not now I don't think he could be trusted to stay in that position or not step over the mark. Don't forget he brings a lot of bagage with him for remaining staff and players both good and bad that could disrupt the playing group.

Last job at The Age....told to leave for attacking a fellow employee (in work places today that is known to not be accptable behavious. Someone that is suposedly an outstanding people manger should know this....and not only know it should be a shining example...)

Prior job..the Saints. In the end could not work properly with his employer...the Board. Odd for a people guy???

Large turnover in assistants. Either the people manager was hiring the wrong guys......or could not work with them....

A large chunk of the list could not work with him.

and if one believes the rumours it was the CEO rather than the prez that instaigated GT's departure.

Why did we get 8th in his 4th year as coach?


He went backwards, yes i was hoping he would take us there, but he didnt like ruckmen and he always played injured or under done players because of their name, not because of their form. I think a player (like Luke Ball) could Sue for playing with an injury and now he is still unable to cope with it.

What about all the other ppl that we have had at the club that we can get back instead of GT? Loewe, Frawley, Winmar. Surely they will have more value that GT, someone who is still trying to get paid out when he said the dispute had been resolved

People skills and player management skills are different things altogether.

Grant Thomas was great for our club. He built a list of quality people, not just quality players.

He got rid of the bad eggs, and let go players that didnt want to be there. That is good player management. He built a loyal group, that wanted - and still want - to make history. Together.

THAT, is good player management.
