More than last year. THe coaching staff and senior players were notorious for shunning Saints players.

Of relevance, how many Saints players can play in a Casey praccy match?

At least the VFL praccy matches are in Melbourne, not friggin humpty doo like most of the NAB cup and NAB Challenge matches.

The VFL have got it right - just play praccy matches locally and forget the PC bullshyte!.

We are obviously having an effect on recruiting as Wall and Raymond are playing at Casey this year. Not sure those 2 players will help much though.

Wall should be good for them, was among their most important players last year, kicked a bag of 5 goals once, and played full back most of the rest of the season.

Cheers saintbrat, just had a look then, looks like the Sandringham and Williamstown times have been changed already with Sandringham being a night game (seniors to play first)
And Williamstown game to start earlier (similar to TV game times)

The Website has improved a fair bit recently, the Scorpions have a young bloke doing a bit of work on it plus more effort from the club, it's one of the few in the VFL to have been updated since christmas, and of those who have, Casey and Williamstown seem to be the only ones to do more than the token post-christmas article.

as iceman indicated
The Scorpions schedule for the practice games is as follows;

Sat 1st March - Casey v Nth Bullants at Casey Fields.
Sat 8th March - Casey v Sandringham at Casey Fields. (Seniors at 5:15pm, Reserves at 7:45pm)
Sat 15th March - Casey v Frankston at Frankston.
Sat 22nd March Casey v Williamstown at Casey Fields. (Reserves 10:20am, Seniors 1:10pm)
(Easter Weekend)

All games are 11.15 Res and 2.00pm seniors unless otherwise stated.

obviously giving the reserves a chance to practice under the lights on March the 8th.

a website is really only as good as it's updates- if it doesn't change people don't visit- people don't visit and less incentive to chagne things,
nice to see some photos etc,

Big day at Casey Fields on 8 March.

At 2pm we have the NAB Challenge game between two Melbourne based AFL clubs. There were over 10,000 people there last year when Hawthorn played Essendon.

That is followed by the Scorps practice match against Sandy, with the reserves on after that.

Saintbrat is right - the reserves will get to play under the new lights!

It will be two of the teams knocked out of the NAB Cup in Weeks 1 to 3.

Last year there had been a hope that it would be Hawthorn v St Kilda, but the Saints wanted to play on the night before at Princes Park.

You would hope that it would be the only two teams located east of Punt Road (excluding Sydney & Brisbane).

The big proviso is, of course, that it would be better if the Saints were playing at Telstra Dome that night in the NAB Cup final.

Being a loyal Casey and Saints supporter i think that you are being a bit over the top in saying that the Casey Coaching staff shunted the Saints players last year. I went to most games and generally the saints blokes were given a good go.Some games there were 15 Saints blokes in the side and with the saints injuries there was only Raymond,Howard,Van reehan playing in the twos.
The saints players often started in their positions that would have allowed them to push for senior selection. So i do not what your are complaining about. They also made the finals for the 1st time in a number of years and i enjoyed watching the 2 lists combine. Can you tell me then which player got shunted as if you did not watch a lot of games you will have no idea what you are talking about and if you did watch games have some balls and name which players did not get a good go. Ferguson,Geary,Armitage,Eddy all improved as the year wore on and we should be happy about their development and the coaching they got game day from Banfield and his staff.

Casey will be a good side this year in most games but they will get mauled when they have to play 12 -10.So they will have no chance in the finals Otiman

hey jezza I have to agree with you some what, in fact certain saints listed players were not giving it 100% sometimes so it's no wonder they get dragged. I am happy that casey has signed a full back in wall which means that certain forwards on our list are not forced back into defence.

Hutcho will be a great coach for the scorps this year and brings experience from melbourne's relationship with sandy. I hope they can find a couple KPP players either end which will be the backbone of the casey team. Thus you can then use the afl listed players as cream, not rely on them as sometimes has been the case in the past 4 years.

can't wait for the night games.

Apparently the lights were connected up and switched on at the full 240 lux last night for the first time (the initial upgrade from 50 lux to 100 lux training level has been connected since pre-Christmas).

Good quality light last night I'm told.

They will be for sure. Only about 26 I think can be used in the NAB games (at least in the Cup - not sure about the Challenge), so any other fit ones will have a run with the Scorps 1s or 2s.

Caseyscorp, what was the reason for them being lit up last night?

They were testing the coverage and quality of the lighting to make sure all was ok. It was done by the installation company.

I'm told:

* good quality even light across the playing surface
* some spillage onto the spectator mounds (which is good)
* very little light, if any, outside the enclosed venue (which is really good because it won't upset the neighbours, who will be there in their thousands within a few short years).

is it similar to what they tried to do with the adelaide oval a couple of years ago? sounds like a good set up
