Michael Nettlefold (I think)
Former Saints (and then Fitzroy?) player who has been on the Board in previous administrations

What role does he perform on the board?

If he was on the previous board, I would suggest a backward somersault.

Yes Michael Nettlefold...was on the previous board since 2000. Was an ex Saints player - about 50 games I think.

That's all I know.

As a player: well, he played 43 games from 1979 to 1983 during which time we won 21 games. Think Aaron Fiora with less kicking skill.

As an director: we'll see - I think he's a money man.

Correct. He's from the Nettlefold family as in Nettlefold advertising. He's loaded.

He only spent a year on the previous board.
Stepped down in 2001.

Think he got done in a Preliminary final for deliberate out of bounds - costing Fitzroy a grand final birth. This was back in the 80s when the league had a rule that Hawthorn had to make the Grand Final and the umpires where instructed to take action to ensure that this was the case.
Jim Stynes was later to learn about this rule.

Sensational business experience in the advertising/sales/marketing industry ... has started his own business and built it up, as well as working successfully for others ...

Has a lot of contacts in that area with his family also involved in the advertising area ... and plenty of contacts at Channel 10 too ...

Great acquisition.

Wasn't this flagged befor the season that he was joining the FF Board...???

So far it has hardly been a stable crew.

From memory 2 of the FF ticket never even fronted.

Now 3 of the Board members will now actually be "old" Board Members.

Not saying that he will not be competent. But the "old boys" club is obviously alive and well with the avrage member having little say about actually who is a board member.

He came on with Andrew fox for 6 months back in approx 2003. That was a "compromise when Scott dennison tried to raise an EGM to get rid of Rod. The setllement was Nettlefold and Fox on , and Dennison drifted away.

Nettlefold and Andrew were not thrilled with Rods approach , and after 6 months seeing that the 2 of them couldnt get real change , left the board quietly rather than kick up a stink.

So he's got an insight into the board , but I like that he put the club first and his own ego second , by stepping off the board quietly, rather than cause a barney...

So he's mates with Andrew Fox?

Does this mean there is a chance a Fox rep. may get on the board also now??

Will dad (ie. Lindsay) reappear also???

I actually think he will be a good Board Member.

But I was just making the point that getting on the Boad has bugga all with a members vote and everything to do with who you know.
