Raph Clarke supporters thread
Raph Clarke is
1. A highly talented - if sometimes erratic - player who played brilliantly at the business end of the 2008 season and would have ended up with a flag if all of the other 21 players who turned out with him in the finals had played as well as he did.
2. A very good-looking guy (as far as I can tell, being neither a woman nor that way inclined) who stands tall and proud in his Sainters playing gear and is an excellent ambassador for our club
3. A young man who has had to overcome the double disadvantages of being an Aborigine in post-1788 Australia and of having a serious chronic medical condition in the form of epilepsy
4. A footballer who turned out for the club in a huge game on Sunday and maybe made a few mistakes, but also gave 100%.
As a white Australian, a lifelong Sainters supporter and enthusiastic contributor to Saintsational, I feel totally ashamed that - if what Stinger said is true - you feel you can't read what is posted on here because it makes you feel distressed.
It is my wish that someone who is close to you reads my post (and, I hope, hundreds more to follow on this thread) and draws it to your attention.
I look forward to the day that you run out on the field as a universally loved 300 gamer for our club, with several premiership wins under your belt.

Looked better as the game went on.
Playing under this type of pressure against quality opposition will only benefit him for the rest of the season.
He will give us plenty of options come finals time if he is fit and firing.
e.g another runner out of defence if Sam Fisher is being tagged.

OK I'm not a big fan of Raph's....but i will say this....he played his best footy in the finals...not many can say that, and it is a point that won't have been lost on selctors. It is a particular trait that seems to be present in some and not others....I look fwd to his best in September if he can earn the right to be there in the next few weeks.
Nee!

Good post Meher. Some of the absolute garbage that is said about Raph at games is disgraceful. To see him bagged before he has touched the ball, or even when he does things well, is something we all need to stand up to. Fair enough when he makes mistakes, but give him the same amount of respect other players receive.
Have sat near someone who had a go at Raph everytime he zoned off a player, while the whole team was doing it and he was congratulating them! Also, people continually blame Raph when he handballs or kicks to someone who drops it.
In the relative anonymity of Facebook, what is said on the official club threads is disgusting. As Raph is a Facebook user, I pray he has never had the misfortune to actually read what has been written there.
I think that as loyal Saints supporters, we need to ensure all our players are given a fair go (isn't that what being Australian is all about?) and stand up for all our players, whether it be at a game, at work, at school or on another forum such as Facebook. If Raph for any reason reads this, I say play your game as instructed, and forget the vocal moronity!

Agreed but unfortunately we do.GrumpyOne wrote:Shouldn't need this thread.
Raph plays for St Kilda.
Our coach (of 14 consecutive wins) has selected him.
That should be enough.
Like every Saints player - I support Raph - no more no less.
Good to see the haters not infecting this thread with their s.hit.
Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Have always been a staunch supporter of Raph - If everyone put in what this kid does both on and off the field we would have already been the all conquering Sainters. He is the absolute embodiment of what The Saints stand for,
Go you good thing Raph!
Go you good thing Raph!
