Has anyone seen the new TV ad for Saints Footy?

Post: # 895295Post Milan Faletic »

I hope there isn's another thread about this. Let me know if there is.

I saw the ad on One HD last night during the IPL.

Shows highlights of our top players and uses nicknames like Joey, Dal, Kosi etc. Best bit is when BJ bumped Thomas in the Collingwood Final.

I reckon it's pretty good and will hopefully, with a strong start to this season, will get us to 40,000 members.

We have one then, that is really exciting...must keep a look out for it.

Together with the membership advertising during the NAB grand final telecast, it's great to see we have taken steps forward in brand exposure.

Understood. Was also excited to see it, during the NAB I think.

Good thing is they would have spent bugger all money making it.

Cheap and easy for them to make,
but gets the message across that we play a tough, uncompromising but exciting brand of footy and invites people to come and join it.
The use of the players nicknames is also good.
I love the BJ hit in the first final. For some reason his name doesn't come up. He is in the top few, so his name should have been one of the ones that came up (given the others are Roo, Joey, Dal, Lenny, Kosi). BJ should be named too...that's my only issue with it. The top 5 realistically are ROO, Lenny, Dal, Fisher and BJ. All 5 should have been featured. These are the same 5 mentioned in todays article in the australian. These are our genuine 5 A graders. Sure there are a few others pushing their claims - eg Joey, but he still needs another great year to reach that level.

I like it.

Instead of that cliched shot of them turning towards the camera with arms crossed making them look like muscle men, it implies the

"Actions not words"

(not cliched pose)

Good point. It's not manufactured. It's real.

I think as other posters have said, it has been made on a low budget but gets the point across to the target audience which is the fans who won't commit financially to the club.

I am actually a bit annoyed about this ad. My daughter makes alot of Saints videos ( which she posts on here and on Youtube ) she was invited to lunch by someone at the club after she saw her videos on Youtube back in july last year.

She then said she would like her to do some work for the club making videos, which she was understandably very excited about.

She then proceeded to ask her questions about how she makes her videos what she uses etc. and then never bothered to contact her afterwards even though my daughter repeatedly emailed her offering her services free of charge, and now posts a complete rip off of her videos, even if it is a poor imitation! :(

She should call the club and the people she spoke to.

At least it was inventive.

I didn't mind it.

This one is pretty cheap and unimaginative.

im with u. that old one was good. part of the community. do gooders. was a little different. the saints footy one is completely naff/ kind of a retro 70's "superhero"feel to it but doesnt go far enough with the theme. for instance they could have used batman "biff" etc during bumps. made it funnier. .

Your daughters videos are fantastic..but let her know we are due for another Saints one ;-)

To be honest, I dont have a problem with the Club's one..done to a budget but steering clear of silly cliches and gets the message across. Your daughter though, though could have produced something pretty special Id reckon, and as you say, for just a free lunch and the experience and thrill of doing something for her Club

If she does feel that they have used her ideas Id be contacting the Club for sure!
