Really good story. Drafted onto the rookie-list as a mature-aged player at 21 in 2007, looked really promising in his first NAB Cup match in 2008, had injuries throughout that year, excellent in 2009 and an emergency countless times, would have been in the senior side early in 2010 if not for a broken ankle, even more emergency selections and now FINALLY A SENIOR DEBUT! Well done Luke!

Yeah he has had a lot of bad luck with stress fractures and he deserves this chance. Miles is very quick and quite skilful. He has the talent to make a very good senior player. I think he won a best and fairest when he was playing in WA.

Ross stated tonight that he was the quickest player on our list....at least over the first 20m.

Also mentioned that he kept getting hot spots when on the verge of selection and/or at been fit when the team was strong so could not get in.

Had now played 11 games ina row, and a vacancy allowed him to be selected.

Congrats Luke!

For those who have seen him play, could you compare him to another saint or AFL player?

From what i've read, a half-back flanker with decent disposal? Farren Ray mould?

Running the lines ala Kennelly/Harbrow? Or a taller defender?

I'd describe him as a running defender with dodgy disposal. Likes to run & carry at times. Undersized for any key defensive assignments, good run with type.

Ross doesn't always tell the truth. A bit like Tony Abbott. Was it in writing?

Having a look at the outs: hayes, stanley and eddy. what position do we expect him to play?

Half back flank is his most suited role but does he have the tank to spend time in the midfield? Our back line looks settled with Blake and Gwilt taking the talls, Goddard, Fisher and Gilbert providing the rebound and Geary taking the small forward.

Not quite sure how Milesy fits in there?

id probably say that he takes gearys spot which then allows him to take over eddys playing further up the ground...

He is probably going to be needed in a floating utility type role. Eddy and Geary, Dempster etc. all move around the ground but are based in defence. Lets Gram and Goddard have a bit more flexibility. Some tagging possibly?
