Ben McEvoy article - "a tall order"

Post: # 986146Post hotdish »

BEN McEvoy played his first game for St Kilda in mid-2008. He was excited and a little nervous, but had been playing some good football and was feeling ready to go. He jogged on against Fremantle. Standing opposite him in the centre square was Aaron Sandilands...

His attitude is exemplary.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Can't wait to see Ben playing in a few seasons time for like the best players he seems to have the drive for continual improvement.

Think it's just a matter of time before Big Mac is in the leadership group.

Definitely something we don't lack...Lenny and Roo are probably the best Captain - VC combo in the league. Not to mention BJ. As well as McEvoy for the younger crew.

Often overlooked, but Dal Joey and Chips are exemplarily leaders.

All of Lenny Roo BJ and Chips could be captain.

We are truly blessed.

Chips going by his onfield display has never struck me as a Captain...

I thought that the way he controls the back six, together with his consistency as a player would show that he is capable.

Although his music video debut might strip him of all the points in the bank.

That music video did make me laugh!

I've been quite excited about McEvoy for a while. He seems like a very good prospect and is doing more and more around the ground as he gets games under his built. I must say, I never notice ruck duels very much though. What's he like with the hit-outs?
