It will be interesting to see if he can still slot them from all over the place in the big time. We know he can kick, but lots of AFL forwards flush them from everywhere at training and then miss woefully when the heat is on. Jarryd Roughead is a prime example of this.
If Siposs can nail his chances in his first game then that will go along way to him holding his spot.
With his kicking ability he only needs to have 2 shots at goal to play a servicable game and 4 or 5 to play a great game. Let's just hope that his accuracy doesn't desert him on the big stage.
All the best to the bloke. He's from around here and lots of my mates played against him in juniors, including the year when he kicked 99. I'm not bagging the bloke but he beat up inferrior sides and often didn't kick bags against the better teams. He had lots of doubters. If he continues to improve at the rate that he has since he turned 17 then he'll be the best player in the league in 2 years time, haha obviously I'm not saying he'll achieve anything close to that.

i've got the champion data afl prospectus next to me. i hope he's improved because they say:bigred wrote:He is a beautiful kick of the ball from a set shot.
"He booted 34 goals in the TAC Cup - ranked fifth in the competition - but his accuracy of 52% was the lowest of the top-20 goalkickers and his set-shot accuracy of 63% ranked 16th."
so maybe he's just having a good run at the moment? interesting that everyone (including graeme yeats in that article) talks up his goalkicking but the stats don't seem to back it up.
also yeats in the article says:
"...elements that Siposs's game lacked included second efforts, competitiveness and agility."
sounds a bit like kosi.
par for siposs? i'd be happy with:
8 disposals, 4 marks, 2 goals

Have you actually seen the kid play? Already from the VFL games he looks like the best set shot at the club. Great set of hands, clean marking at odds with his apparent size.bergholt wrote:i've got the champion data afl prospectus next to me. i hope he's improved because they say:bigred wrote:He is a beautiful kick of the ball from a set shot.

There's been improvement in his defensive game by all accounts. Have a look at the Saints in 60 video. Personally he strikes me as a highly competitive character.also yeats in the article says:

All the signs are good AFAIAC.
"... You want to pose a threat to the opposition in as many ways as you can, both defensively and offensively. We've got a responsibility to explore all those possibilities - and we will."
nah, haven't seen him at all, but i will tonight. i'm not a good judge of "kicking action" anyway, so i tend to go with the stats, and i was surprised that the official (?) tac cup stats were at odds with everyone's perception of him.InkerSaint wrote:Have you actually seen the kid play? Without having ever seen him before, what I like about the Siposs story to this point is that he's a talented kid who's reaction to not getting his chance at TAC was to work his butt off. That upon getting his chance, his talent shone - and he kept working his butt off.
AFL in 2011 has become an endurance game first and foremost - if you can't run 10k, you can't play. 15k for mids. After that, talent still triumphs. If you've got the work ethic, you can learn to run 10-15k, so the question in an 18 year old is whether they've got the skills.
The reports on Siposs give the impression that he can bring both those 2 things to the table. If he's a good kick, thank goodness. It's pretty clear we could do with a few more of those...

He is......IS a great set shot kick. Textbook.
We need some real forward pressure from him. Some desperation and intensity.
He's good enough. Would be happy to see him lining up 40+m out.
Good kick from range. Would back him to 55m pretty much.
