Team changes for next week

Post: # 1082660Post mohannair »

With uncertainty over BJ's availability it will be intresting at the selection table.

Will Blake be O.K.? Will Peake be suspended? Will Dempster be OK?

I heard Lynch has a broken finger, so may be 4 forced change.

Out:- Dempster, Lynch, BJ?? & Peake??

In:- Tommy Walsh, Gram, Clarke, Kosi (Legder)

Kozi has to come in if Blake doesnt come up. Unless Roo rucks.

Clarke can only play defence and against the Pies whoever he gets could be instant trouble.

No unforced changes for one.

So... Kosi for Blake (if needed)
Baker/Walsh for Dempster/Lynch (if needed)- depends on tall/small balance
Raph for BJ (if needed)
Ledger for Peake (if needed)

I'll call Walsh and Ledger in for Blake and Lynch.

Walsh and Ledger will not play this week. Any changes will be experienced players like Raph, Bakes and, I hate to say it, Kosi.

Correct and it has to be that. We have 3 games left to shape our year and we have to go with experienced guys.

Agree.

The following week however may provide an opportunity to have a look at another kid.

Winmar shouldn't play against Collingwood. We should be trying to win and he has neither the body or th psyche to stand up to that pressure. Lynch will be out. I find it hard to believe Goddard can play this week; even if if was just a pinched nerve he'll have a damn stiff/sore neck. If Dempster just had concussion and nothing else then he'll probably hold his spot. Since Blake did seem to be walking without serious discomfort I'm going to guess he'll be ok as well. I haven't seen the Peake strike, but it's been quite a while since anyone actually goes for a report made on match day.

Out: Goddard (inj), Lynch (inj), Winmar
In: Clarke, Gram, Ledger

Kosi, Walsh, Johnson and Smith the other potential ins if Blake, Dempster and Peake are unavailable or they want to rest Siposs.

Raph will most likely get a gig. He has played some good footy for Sandy and should never have been played as sub last time. Gram won't spend long in the reserves and apparently played a more team oriented game today. Ledger has match fitness up and has the speed, skill and aggression that we've been looking for all year.

I think Winmar needs a rest, and I think they should bring Gram in for him for sure:
OUT : WINMAR -- IN : GRAM

If Goddard's too injured, bring Raph in to do the marking and clearing out of defence
If OUT : GODDARD -- IN : CLARKE

If Blake's injured, Bring in Kosi to ruck
If OUT : BLAKE -- IN : KOSI

If Dempster's out with concussion, replace with Bakes as a stopper
If OUT : DEMPSTER -- IN : BAKER

If Peake's suspended, bring in Smith as a reasonable runner.
If OUT : PEAKE -- IN : SMITH

If Lynch's finger's a gonner, bring in ? Walsh or Johnston or Simpkin ? -- God Knows. It's hard to start anyone off against Collingwood. Maybe Clarke anyway, or even more going backwards, Mini.
If OUT : LYNCH -- IN : ?? (Prefer Walsh or Johnston.)

whats kozi done???
clarke? oh yeah, tore up the vfl...not quite

we're playing the pies
it would hurt bringing someone without some experience in as much as bringing someone with experience in thats done f*** all for the year???

not in my opinon

I actually think the our young players are in for one hell of a physical shock this week.

The pies will plan to work them over and give them a serious introduction to elite football.

I reckon just for this reason alone I would be sending the young blokes back to Sandy for protection.

If we beat the Pies does that mean we will become flag contenders?

OUT:
Dempster (inj), Blake (inj)
IN:
Ledger, Walsh

Let Kosi, Gram & Raph earn a recall by playing a few good VFL games, not one, we saw Gamble kick 6 the other week but nothing either side of that…

If Peake & Montagna are out suspended then maybe the door would open early for Gram/Raph.

Id feel alot more confident body on body wise if a long ball came in and it was Walsh v Dawes instead of Dawson v Dawes.

It's maddness to bring in 2 newbies Vs the Pies and keep Winmar and Sippa in also. They would tear us a hole bigger than Kimmie!!!

If we get easily beaten then realism would suggest that we really are too far away this year.

Win, and that suggests the dream is still alive for 2011 IMO.

MADNESS maybe…
However this integrity in selection process is a real joke…
It takes Lynch 6 good games to get selected…
Polo plays 2 half decent ones - gets a game
Kosi - I don't need to say anything
Walsh/Simpkin - frequently in the best - no games yet

I totally understand the need for experience, but dressing up the selection criteria as having integrity around form is ridiculous. The favorites get plenty of chances when they are terribly out of form, and the wanna-bes have to star for many weeks to even get a sniff.

If we hadn't lost a few close ones this year, the truth is we may still not have seen Cripps, Sippos, Winmar, Johnson,
And walk-up starts would still be McQualter, Raph, Gamble

I think it would be irresponsible by the club to play two players who needed to be carted off to hospital, one knocked-out cold, and one with a bad knock above the shoulders causing convulsions. So I reckon BJ and Dempster out- big loss both of them. Raph is a rabbit in the headlights at senior level and coughs up the ball too easily for my liking- OK at VFL level. So out BJ and Dempster, and Lynch with finger injury, and maybe Blake. In would be Gram, Kosi maybe, though form doesn't warrant it, Walsh maybe, Stanley maybe..who knows?

I think Baker will play. I'm not sure who's place he will take, but I think he will take on the mids coming forward to rest.

We're still a small defender short.
