Should Joey have played? !!

Post: # 1091939Post Eastern »

Knee heavily strapped right from the get go

Failed to have any meaningful impact

Sub'd off in the 3rd Quarter

In hindsight, he should have been rested until after the bye !!

With the sub rule I don't think it was that bad an idea. See how he goes and sub him if it doesn't work. I can't say that any of the players from the magoos would have done any better, unfortunately.

Apparently when he came off there was absolutely nothing wrong with him, and he told Michael Roberts he was surprised and disappointed at coming off.

Had no impact.

Got nine possessions, none of them to any great advantage. Answer, no.

The game was lost at selection. Clutching at straws because Bombers and Freo are falling over.

I posted yesterday that he wouldn't play.
He could barely walk during the week.

So clearly they have jabbed him with painkillers and sent him out.

But not a good decision.

No good for the team.
And not good for his long term health.

Terrible decision to play a half fit player. It never, ever works and yet coaches keep persisting with it. Play fully fit players willing to die for you and you never know what might happen.

Ledger has offered more in his 40 minutes of game time than Joey and Raph combined tonight. Simply shocking selection from Ross

Gotta add my voice to this... Tommy Ledger would have given us more. The experience would have been better for him, and the team. Huge selection mistake.

9 possessions and Joey was disappointed to be subbed off? The selection process has lost me. I'm not convinced players are under enough pressure to keep their spots.

No.

Idiotic selection.

If Ross I'm living in the Past cause it's Geelong Lyon insisted on it, why wasn't he the sub FFS???

I was AMAZED that Montagna was selected. Like a lot of others I felt it would have been better to rest him and bring him back after the bye. But then I guess we have to trust our coaching panel. Kozitzche should not have played either.

A little bemused by that decision

Apologies, posted this elsewhere :

Joey should never have played. With other Posters, I was saying this all last week. Why our selectors couldn't see it, I do not know. :!:

A bad mistake by the medicos. Someone internally should be held accountable for this poor decision.

6 possessions in the first quarter and only another 3 until he went off in the third quarter.

A fully fit Tom Leger would have been a much better choice, especially with his replacement, Raph Clarke contributing only 1 kick and 3 handballs.

It may not have cost us the game, but it was a poor decision by the Medicos.

Raph would have been better off heading out into the car park and playing kick to kick.

At least that way he would have had more involvement.

Can't believe Joey played. After seeing him limping so badly last week at the back of the SC then limping up the race after his on ground interview with Tim Watson, I thought there was no way he would play this week. I was fully expecting him to be a late withdrawal and Ledger to take his place.
Seems crazy to have played him when he was obviously still so sore, and we have the bye next week and were unlikely to win last night anyway. Should have given him last night off and then the bye to give him half a chance of being fit after the bye where we have a few winnable games. Stupid decision by all concerned.

I agree, to see him walking last week with him walking with a distinctive limp as he culdn't bend his knee made it clear he should have had a fortnight's rest to recover.

Makes you wonder how bad Blakey's knee was if he couldn't evern get on the ground.

I agree tommy ledger is a live wire and has done well when he is on the field.

They allso should have played either Tommy Walsh or johnson Archer have played really well for sandy.

BUT ACCORDING TO THE HERALD SUN ARTICALE ON SATURDAY SAINTS DROP YOUTH POLICY SO WE WONT SEE THESE GUYS AGAIN.

Ross will make a tilt for the finals with the experienced players and with Gardy, blake, joey, mini all avaiable after the bye thats what we will get and i for 1 are very disapointed for 2011 2012 and beond if thats the case.!!!!!!!
