On that, reckon people are tough on the Suns...

They've got practically an entire team full of second year blues.

Expect the same at GWS next year.

You have to love the last paragraph, they mention that bj, dal and Monty are eligible for free agency at the end of the season.

One other AFL club has made inquiries about Gilbert's contract status but the 25-year-old says he wants to stay at the club he has been with since he was drafted with pick No.33 at the 2005 NAB AFL Draft.

I can't be the only one who is surprised

I'm likely to cop flak on this forum, but I'm a Gilbert fan. Admittedly, he struggled to find touch the past 18 months, but I reckon he offers us a fair bit. He can play tall & small, marks well in a contest, and has agility and run from the backline. Last week he even had a run in the ruck, and was acceptable. It would be fantastic if he could kick the ball to a team mate more frequently, but he's a rugby player, and may still have upside.

can't believe I'm saying this but...

I'm disappointed.

Supposedly our salary cap is stretched to the limit and we have a chronically underperforming player like Sam coming out of contract, with interest reported from at least 1 other club and we're not even waiting him out for the end of the season and seeing what we can get...

he'd better be on one bargain priced offer or we really have lost the plot

"Interest" reported from one other club will not drive his price up especially when most of that "interest" is generated by player agents...

Just maybe our coach sees and understands more about players than people on here.

Hey TS & Sober-as, I'll stand with you guys (or is it girls, or girl & guy???), anyway, great call for mine. I'm a fan too. I'll stand with you and cop the flak as well.

Whether his form is up, down or sideways, Sam always tries his guts out. Even getting to the end of a horror night against the tiggers, he was still full-bore trying to take the game on. Gotta' admire that!

Go Sammy! :D

wow so we're not allowed to make our own assessments based on the information available

an ex-coach once played a player in a grandfinal and then delisted him straight after but hey I guess he had "all the information available"

boy I sure would love to live in both of ur respective worlds... everythings fine the way it is as it only could be

and by the way Plugger and Pav... do u guys actually have an opinion on the validity of this move? Very easy to criticise isn't it.

Yep, he'll wake up one morning and discover he's suddenly become a 2 sided player and all
the oppositions current tactics against him will need a re-think....

So who would have come in for Eddy? I honestly can't remember who was available but Eddy was probably selected over a kid because there wasn't anyone better available. If the forum chose our team Lenny, BJ and Dal would get exposed when no one else was good enough to make the cut.

Or he'll return to playing a role further up the ground, where he won't be our kick out of defence.
