I am actually pretty bullish on all of those things apart from Stanley which I and neither here nor there with. Our defense is whats holding us back from being a top 4 team imo - especially after yesterdays effort - it was almost like there were 36 of us running around out there!

I reckon that probably even more importantly we would need Armo & Steven + another to become elite, we are really lacking A-grade midfield depth... Lenny, Dal, Joey - excellent... But need 2 or 3 more of that class/consistency.

I don't think we can expect Newnes to play midfield consistently yet, he just won't have the core strength yet, but he could well play most if the season in Gram/Goddards spot.

Stanley, we keep waiting, will it happen, could still really be anything.

We are a bit like a relay team, a handful of 30 year olds trying hand over the baton to a bunch of 20 yet olds... Whether we drop it in the process is the big question?

I think the group will be aiming to make the 8 this year...

Not going to happen. Purely because too many others are cheating and we don't stand a chance. Call me jaded, but I believe that our game has taken a massive hit today. Worse than when the commission report came out claiming there was widespread drug use in Football codes and then the AFL comes out less than a week later saying 'not us, we are squeaky clean bar possibly 1 player (as we all know the 1 team with doping of multiple players will get away with it, they have been cheating for years and always manage to be let off the hook!!!).

I'd be upset if Stanley did turn out to be a gun FB...should be heading forward from ruck where he's dangerous, rested on the half flank. Anything else would be a loss.
