Glad Hall can understand it. I guess it's easy to talk about things from 8 years ago now that we are an insignificant team like the AFL like us to be.

Looks like Big Bad's confession was on this week's Open Mike, according to the Fox Sports website -

I probably would have been crying, just saying that Goose certainly had the wind knocked out of him and I'm sure the blow was painful, but he's a tough kid and recovered quickly. Certainly quickly enough to play at FF moments later. Doesn't justify Barry's action, nor him being cleared, but in the context of how the game unfolded, I think the punch was minimal.

What lost us that game was a lack of tactical nous, getting smashed, SMASHED in the clearances and a very loose Aussie Jones.

Injuries didn't help either. We had about 1/3 of our best team out.

It has everything to do with us in terms of the AFL's broader agenda and politics. The game in a large sense died with that decision in my eyes.

True, but when you get beaten in a prelim you want the winning team to lose the GF first and foremost.

I was sitting right where it happened that night and although I didn't see the actual hit - because the actual play was so far away. Goose did go down for a fair bit and was on his hands and knees from memory, this allowed Hall to be free and take an easy mark and kick what may have been the first goal in the last quarter (I could be wrong about that) and although the Swans kicked about 7 to 1 it was probably that act that kick started them. I don't think Goose recovered quickly from that at all. Whether it would have made any difference we'll never know, but it certainly didn't help.

I was actually glad he was cleared to play honestly yes it was a dog hit but i reckon it would have been an ultimate shame had Barry not played in the g/f ... and ill admit i was cheering for the swans that day... honestly though had we come up against WCE in that g/f we would have prob lost that by a fair margin any way
