3 at the start of each quarter, one when the sub goes on and then if you want to do 3 late in the game you can as long as those 3 dont come back on. Well that last bit was allowed this season so i think it would next season.

Re: Cap on interchange
If it played a role in Lenny's decision to go around again, then I'm all for it.
Still think harves retired a year early - could have managed him through the season and had him firing fit and keen for the final. would've been nice to see him break 400 games as well.

Re: Cap on interchange
It would make it better if they reduced it to 5 per quarter. Make it a tactical decision rather than something managed by the fitness guys.cowboy18 wrote:Is there any comment on how this could make the game better? I don't understand the rationale for doing it.

Re: Cap on interchange
Does anyone know what the average Interchange number is for the Saints, across the year
Re: Cap on interchange
So if you have players capable of having a burst affect in the midfield , you'd probably rotate them off the bench as usual.
Others with bigger tanks and lest burst can probably go from bench to forward to midfield to bench. ( or reverse )

Or most clubs could exactly as they are doing now.
Re: Cap on interchange
Average for the interchange this year is 133.4. It will drop to a maximum of 133. This will effect most clubs.
Re: Cap on interchange
StKilda probably the team most likely to stuff up the count and go over, infringing at the same time.plugger66 wrote:Kickit wrote:So if you have players capable of having a burst affect in the midfield , you'd probably rotate them off the bench as usual.

Re: Cap on interchange
Get rid of the s*** sub rule.... put 4 players back on the bench, and have a 30 per quarter limit (120 rotations cap).
only have a sub for concussion or serious injury (knee, broken bone etc where the player is 100% gone and, if substituted, is not eligible to play the following week, this is to make sure the sub isn't used as an advantage).
I'd rather see more young players getting a go, rather than watching him play 25 minutes of football and trying to develop... pfft.

Re: Cap on interchange
Looks like Steven and Armitage will be most affected. Expect both could meet the challenge and stay on the ground for longer periods.
"St Kilda
TOP THREE: Jack Steven (2013 season: 238 times, average 10.8 per game), David Armitage (211, 10), Leigh Montagna (171, 8.1)
WHAT THE CAP MEANS FOR… JACK STEVEN: Steven played more than 100 minutes only once in 2013 (against Greater Western Sydney in round three), compared to Nick Dal Santo, who passed the mark 13 times. The challenge for Steven is clear – stay on the park longer and influence the game even more. With Dal Santo gone, Steven will have increased responsibility, and the club champion would presumably have been expected to lift his minutes regardless of his teammate's departure. At 23, he is entering his prime and should be capable of tweaking his rotations to suit the new cap."

The only problem with saying that is the amount rotations is the same as the average this year so I fail to understand why he has to change at all apart from Dal going but that has nothing to do with the numbers.

"No team in the competition averaged fewer than 120 interchanges during 2013."
We will have to reduce our interchanges. Our high interchange players such as Steven and Armitage may have to stay on the ground longer.

The AFL average was 134 and you can now have a maximum of 133 so there is bugger difference.
