Last minute additions - hopefully they can develop in their roles into quality assistants down the track...

IMO having Jolly as a ruck coach makes a lot, lot more sense than having him as a "coaching" rookie. His mind will be fully on coaching rather than on trying to get elevated over the guys that he was coaching.

All of our current ruck options are very inexperienced, and so we now need a proper ruck coach more than ever as there are no "old-hands" to learn off.

Jolly was always a "smart" ruckman and so I would be confident that he has a lot to pass on. He just needs to embrace being a coach rather than a player now, and whether he can adjust or not time will tell.

St Kilda coaching staff for 2014:

AFL Program:

Alan Richardson – Senior Coach

Adam Kingsley – Assistant Coach (Midfield)

Danny Sexton – Assistant Coach (Midfield)

David Teague – Assistant Coach (Backs)

Aaron Hamill – Assistant Coach (Forwards)

Darren Jolly – Rucks Coach (part-time)

Saints Player Academy:

Simon McPhee – Academy Manager

Paul Hudson – Development Coach

Lindsay Gilbee – Development Coach

When did Stephen Lawrence part time coach for St.Kilda?

Have no idea how Gilbee and Jolly will go as coaches, but I hope they do very very well, as should all real Saints supporters

Wasn't Jolly pissed at the Saints for mucking him around in regard to drafting him?

Seems to have got over it pretty quick.

amused at the photo that news.com.au have used

intersting turn of phrase from sam Landsberger.
Jolly will work with one of the hottest young ruck divisions in the land after the Saints added Longer - a No. 8 draft pick - to Tom Hickey, the untried but promising Lewis Pierce and US rookie Jason Holmes.
