We could be on the bottom at 10.30 tonight. GWS only 10 points down and Brisbane 30 points up. even if we arent tonight its looking more and more likely we will finish bottom. At least it will only be the 27th time.

Re: Sadly
Yep it is sad, but hey we cant fall any further. Doggies are disappointing, most "experts" had them on the move this year.
I wish it made me feel better that the dogs are disappointing but it doesnt.

Re: Sadly
We will win one, maybe two more games for the year.....
I honestly thought that we had a couple of clubs below us....I was wrong.

They are disgusting but it proves how hard it is to improve. Anyway it looks like GWS are stuffed now

Re: Sadly
I am immune to feeling sad about this.
18th, 16th… same thing to me, one just gives you an earlier shot at selecting our next superstar.
This decline has been coming for a long time… you could see it coming at least 3 years ago.
Buckle up and let's try to not eat each other alive.

Deservedly last if that's the case!!
Love to know our % (indicator of competitiveness) since our last win?!
I reckon its no good and I reckon you are 100% correct. Sadly injuries, lack of ability and young players have proven to much. the problem is it still should get worse.

If we finish last we'll get our 27th wooden spoon.Bernard Shakey wrote:At least we have one record that will never be taken from us!
27, the number worn by Barry Breen when he tumbled that helicopter punt barely through for that deciding 1 point.
27 could be a good omen for us.

Re: Sadly
What's another spoon mean? It's sad, annoying and hard to take, but honestly, being on or near the bottom will help us more than living in the perpetual twilight that Carlscum, Richmond, North and the bummers do. I think the Pelican and recruiting team will deliver eventually. It's just so hard in a competition that is unfairly rigged against teams like ours. I just hope I'm still young enough to celebrate properly when, or if, we next win the big one.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Got to be honest, rather not another spoon especially when there is no proof that pick one is better than any other pick. Second last will do me.
Re: Sadly
Two of those teams spent a long time where we are now to inevitably move up the ladder?
The #1 or 2 pick ensures nothing... Not even a certain star...
North and Essendon IMO will likely rise the other two will fall...... Which puts pay to the theory those who have been lower, end up higher.
I hope we don't finish last, because I hate losing

I'm also with Plugger. Can't say I want us to finish dead last. No joy in that.

Re: Sadly
Of course there are no guarantees… but there are plenty of examples of the #1 being a better player than the #2… I'd rather we had the choice.plugger66 wrote:bigred wrote:I'm so happy I could s***.
Why? When was the last number one that was clearly better than any other player. Hopefully we can win a few more games.
Nick Riewoldt - Kosi
Brendon Goddard - Wells
Adam Cooney - Walker
Marc Murphy - Thomas
Bryce Gibbs - Gumbleton

Natinui-Watts
Cotchin-Kruzer
Haselby-Fraser
Half the draft pool-Scully
Then there's the other top 10ers who outshone the 1s
Judd, Selwood, Griffen, Franklin, etc....
I think StNick is possibly the only #1 to end up the best player?

Re: Sadly
Well, the Bummers saved us from falling to the foot of the table. I wonder if we can stay off the bottom. Should be a goal to do so.

Re: Sadly
As far as I have read so far there is no standout #1 pick and has anyone heard if this next draft cohort is considered a particularly good batch or not ?
