Loved Aussie but Barks was like some kind of religious figure in the dark ages of the SKFC.

Barks should have been given a 'free pass' into the semi-finals of this comp.
IMHO, it's unfair on whoever he comes up against before that.

trevor barker by the length of the straight......aussie's not even in the picture......silly comparison.....a man that was all heart being compared to one who in the end was sadly lacking in that department....

Well that's obviously your opinion bu I wouldn't have Barks in the top 4 that I have seen, probably struggle to make the top 6. Im sure Kosi is doing this a certain way that should get the best 4 to the semi.

I didn't want to put my own personal bias into this so it's all done based on games played. Harvey - Ditterich was 1 v 32. Barker Jones is 16 v 17. Tomorrow will be 8 Gary Colling v 25 Kosi. There's a matchup in the first round that could easily be a semi-final and a potential matchup in the second round that could be a final.

It must be too early for me. When I saw the thread title my first thoughts were 'Clint Jones? WOW Jones?'

I think you will note it's a favourite player not a best.

Voted for Barker - one of my Favourite Saints players ever.

Looks like players have been seeded for these polls.

Perhaps you need a reminder on just how good he was,and in more ways than one, could be a champion in any era

These vids are worth watching whether you were around in the so called dark ages or not.

I can't say who would be number 1 saint for all time would be but TB would be up there and lets face it it's only one mans opinion.

So guys if you have the time, please watch.

Our only shining light for many seasons. Made those times bearable watching him in flight. And as a clubman - none better.

some of our younger members simply don't know but if they are fair dinkum they will study the history of the club and learn about true Saint legends like Barks.

I was lucky enough to meet him and could not meet a better person.

As a Saint favourite of all time only Nick Riewoldt can challenge Barks.
If you look up loyalty & courage in the dictionary there should be a photo of Trevor next to both words.
Holds the record for the most number of games ever without playing a final.
Barely 6ft but played more than half his games either as full back or centre half forward.
Won a car for best and fairest one year and donated it back to the club as they were in financial trouble.
Accepted 22 1/2 cents in the dollar for 2 or 3 years of salary at the club. Who would do that today.
Probably the most consistent great mark in the game at the time.
Have a look at 2 marks in particular.
1/ versus South Melbourne at the Lake oval in 1976 or 1977,
2/ versus Essendon Round 2 1979 over Scanlon at Windy Hill.
An absolute class act and that's why our best and fairest is named after him.
