The size of midfielders nowadays means that Rooey may be too short to play there.

I thought they were waiting until he was 40 before they moved him, let's see how it goes if that's what they do this season.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Ive got a new idea. Roo to the wing (like Richo) and Kosi to CHB.

We should play Barry Hall on Carey when we play North.

McCartin and Goddard as well. Dunstan to full forward, Billings to full back.

And Jodi Arnold as rover.

Don't laugh people. Midfield time makes sense the way the game is played and his running ability and field kicking.

And the fact that we have Bruce, Lee, White, McCartin, Longer, Hickey and Membrey on the list. I'd be happy to see Roo spend some time further up the ground to give the young forwards a chance to be the main targets, but at the end of the day if we're trying to win a game our best chance is if Roo is at CHF. Could be a good damage control method against top teams though; have Roo starting on a wing and playing behind the ball/at half back as a link up player.

Maybe we should give him a few games at Sandy first ,to get used to his new roll

If this is true, I would downgrade my prediction of 1-3 wins for the season to a big fat zero.

Agreed, if he gets 30+ possessions at Sandy a few weeks in a row then he's earned a spot.

I think our midfield is probably going to be our big weakness this year (I hope I am proved wrong), so just plonk Roo in the middle of the ground.

I'm pretty sure I remember hearing Roo stating this move in the interview he gave on 'Captain's Day' , so I'm not sure why this is such a revelation?

As long as he takes a few bounces and goals from 50 it's ok, because that is what will be required if he's a midfielder.

He certainly did but luckily players don't pick where they play. Roo as a mid is funny.

About as funny as Lee in the ruck.

Rob Harvey once said that Riewoldt was one of the most natural Forwards he had ever seen and scoffed at the idea he should play anywhere else. I can't agree more.
