Positives and negatives vs eagles - review

Post: # 1551089Post SainterK »

Negatives first this week

Umpire #2 needs his betting account checked.
Webster was clearly dazed and concussed IMO, but had is nose plugged and was sent back on...that's a worry for mine.
Weller starting as a backman
Schneids Hollywood stuff still irritates me
Acres Sub
Fishers hammy
No actual fullback, why not Simpkin?
Only one quarter again

Positives

Even though I'm disappointed only one quarter, I like that they came back at all
Josh Bruce, no explanation required
Savage, he's back
Membrey, something about stickers, only 20 but a man child. Need to pump games into him
Sinclair, so glad AFL had a change of heart
Jack flying the flag for Webster
Shenton, hungry, gotta give him that
Armos hit on Masten
DMac is actually fast, need to utilise that

Positives
Bruce
Our best football shows we can match it against anyone

Negatives
Our pressure was non existent for 3 qtrs
Skills, horrendous at times
Dempster, been a fantastic servant but his clangers are starting to become too common
Selection, let's just not pick a full back even though Goddard has been performing
Centre clearances, we got hurt all day
Coast to Coast goals, we need to stop these

The signs are there but we still have a long way to go.

Steven was outstanding 37 disposals and 166 fantasy points for the armchair coaches. Armo and Bruce just keep bringing the required standard. Joey was really good, probably his best game for a long time. Schneider, Billings, Sinclair, Savage, Roberton were all very good.

Not disappointed, improvement will come.

If Hickey can't mark, go back to the VFL.

Injury concern to Chips, might be Goddard's chance.

Schneider might be a bit showy nowadays, but it is like having a coach on the ground, worth sticking with him for the rest of the season.

Good to see Roberton back in form.

Negative: Disgraceful umpiring display. Just plain incompetent.

Positive: At least our small forwards win their own footy. Josh Hill will not smell it in a pressure game, waits for Joe the Gooses on the goal line. Glad he's not in our side.

Were under siege without Delaney to kill those contests.

Was very impressed with Roberton (very calm in any situation, and can move pretty quick), Bruce and Membrey. The sooner Membrey gets 50 games into him the better we'll be.

5 goals in a quarter, directly from turnovers is taking the piss.

POSITIVES:
- Sinclair keeps developing well
- Bruce was really good again
- Acres looks AFL ready
- Was really impressed with our fight back in that 2nd qtr - we've shown we can change the momentum of games by applying pressure at the coalface where we weren't able to last year
- WC boosted their win with a lot of junk time scoring - typical flat track bullies
- Richo seems to know which buttons to push on his players at qtr and half times to turn things around. Shows he can get through to players

NEGATIVES
- That first quarter was some of the strangest and sloppiest disposal I've seen. If you can't keep the footy a running team like WC will kill you
- Niggles and tiredness might already be starting to take their toll on young legs and bodies already.
- We were quite schizophrenic from qtr to qtr. Where is the consistency of effort?
- Without Rooey our forward line lacks someone to straighten the team up (although Bruce stepped it up). Can't wait for Paddy to come in.
- Its shows how much more depth we need. A few injuries to key players and our structure is all out.

I gotta say, Dempster, when he is on song is one hell of a player.

But when he has a howler, hooly dooly he can stink it up with the best.
