Seems like he has realised that his game plan will not win finals, problem is that (as we have nearly all spelled out) its was based on average talented players sticking to his defensive plan.
He's recruited Hawthorn players etc to find out how to attack with a defensive mindset , but it does require elite disposal. His new plan shows already that our old full back may be able to negate but has no real talent to take the game on. Going to be interesting to see if he sticks to his new attacking plan, getting rid of players or reverts to the old fortress mentality.
Fwiw I'm making the point that as far as the Saints are concerned RL was best to leave...
