How many weeks? Can't say it wasn't intentional. 2 or 3?

*Allegedly.

One at most but it was low impact so i reckon they'll throw it out or it'll be reduced to nothing with a plea

Reckon he'll get off. Maybe one week. Looked intentional. Low or zero impact.

Remember Plugger got four weeks for a similar one on Bluey McKenna. That said, he nearly sent McKenna's head into Linton Street. I forget if he kicked 12 or 14 that day, but he played like a man possessed after the report.

He kicked 12 and that report cost us a finals chance.

McKenna was told by the trainer to stay down

According to Paul Roos, it should have been a free to Hogan.....

A bit like the 12th Man's version of Lockett vs Caven - Lockett missed 8 weeks due to a shattered elbow, Caven got 6 weeks for headbutting....

Roos is a complete, lying tool.

I am still steaming from Plugger getting 4 weeks for a similar incident against Guy McKenna. So, 4 weeks is fair then!

Roos is right it should've been a free to Hogan, but there would've been an immediate reversal anyway when Geary was elbowed in the head. Should get a week, but Lethal's trial by media has already let him off

It would have been a free to Hogan if he didn't swing the arm back and connect with his jaw. Geary was all over him. Lucky Hogan is stupid. He will get a week

He kicked 12 and that report cost us a finals chance.
It also cost Plugger a record. It was 1989 and after that game he had kicked 70 in 9 weeks ( 9, 10.7 on Silvagni, 8, 5, 5, 6, 6, 9 and 12). He was on target for 175 plus. He barely trained in that 4 week period. Teddy Whitten stuck up for him and picked him for Big V. He kicked 5 but did a groin, staggered through 2 more games for the Saints, and then was finished for the season. If he could have stayed fit in 88( ankle), 89( groin) , 90 (knee) and 91 ( back) he would have kicked 150 plus each year and we would have been in finals ( he played most in 91 and we got robbed in a gem of a final against Cats ).

I reckon if Plugger was a swan and Caven a saint, that would have been the outcome.

Lucky you weren't around in the Carl Ditterich era SainterK........... he was all elbows, that connected regularly to head & throats of opposition players.

He had an ungainly running action. Elbows wide for balance!

Yes the ungainly running action, as a young child he wore caliphers on his legs for a few years, I remember reading. Think it was when he was around 10-12 years of age. Can't recall the actual reason why, may have had something to do with what was called 'knock knees' in them there distant years.

Maybe in the Ditterich era. But I'm with Sainter K. Don't like elbows.

The thing about the Hogan elbow is that it can't be anything other than intentional to have thrown the elbow (he looked over his shoulder as he did it), and he had to know it would hit Gears high. Hogan's just bloody lucky Gears didn't end up looking like Hayden Ballantyne.

Grading that as careless is just a gift from the MRP to avoid suspending him.

I just can't see how it's any different to the "tummy tap"; if we're rubbing people out for those now, why not this?

I accept that this has traditionally been part of the game. But if we're protecting heads, should it be?

I think Hogan would make a great fast bowler.

He has a ridiculously long run-up and manages to angle the ball nicely across the stumps.

Had polio as a child, grew up with calipers, hence his huge chest , I remember it measured around 60 inches ( sorry about the imperial meas).
He was something different I clearly remember his fist game he basically sat on his apponents shoulder getting the tap out and apparently said " move over grandad" to whoever it was (Melbourne player?). There is a photo somewhere in the archives of that tap out.. Huge man frightening apponent, he was a junior school teacher I believe Must have frightened hell out of the kids..
