One incident that pleased me on Saturday evening.
In all this gloom & doom about our beloved Saints at the moment. I’ll share with you something that brightened ‘the cockles of my heart’ on Saturday evening before the match against Fremantle.
We had just got to the top level of the stadium to find our seats up in the ‘Gods’. Walking in front of us was a family of Saint supporters, with them was a very elderly looking gent, a little doddery on his feet, but walking proudly with his family. The old fella had an old style St.Kilda jumper on. On his back was number 90.
Being the inquisitive one that I am, I had to go and ask, ‘Who was # 90’? I was proudly told. ‘That is my age, dearie”.
I was so proud of this dear old gentleman that he still turned up to watch his Saints. I hope in 30 years time I have remained that loyal to my Club and I can manage to get myself to the top tier of the Stadium at Perth, knowing that there will be about 40,000 opposition supporters trying to drown out the voices of about 1,000 Saint supporters.
So for those that are wavering about going to watch the Saints next week, think of the pluck of this 90 year old....... a true Sainter.

Yes I possibly should have, but I didn’t think of it “bigcarl”.bigcarl wrote:Great story Loris. Should have got a picture
You see I’m of that age group, that I don’t have a mobile phone that looks like it is a permanent appendage extending from my hand. My mobile is usually, somewhere down the bowels of my bottomless handbag, with the battery run out, because I haven’t looked at it for days with many missed phone calls and texts!!!

Does he change his number each year?
Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

That was Section 502
I was in that group, most of the Saints members were there.
had the perfect view of Gilbo's goal (we were above the opposite pocket
and had the exact perfect view)

Great Story.
The gentleman was 38 when we won the flag. Scary.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."
