Saints frontrunners to get Sloane

If he comes back to Melbourne, whisper is we are the frontrunners (at this point). I wasn't that keen on him at the start of the year due to thinking we had a better list than we actually do, but after this disaster of a year we have witnessed...we simply need a leader at the club that can show the way. He can bloody play too and we would still get a good 5 years out of him. We should guarantee him a leadership position if he crosses. There is much more to being a good AFL footballer than solely performing on the field. A guy like Sloane would do wonders for the playing group off field. Much like Riewoldt and Montagna would have done the past few seasons.

His family are Saints fans and his missus is also looking for work in Melbourne. She is involved in media or something in that field and is very talented. It all helps.

The wheel can turn quickly and it may for the Saints sooner than we think. We may not come good until your time frame too, but he might teach our young brigade a few things if he came to the Saints. Why do you think West Coast recruited Mitchell and Petrie for a year? Apparantly they had a massive influence on the playing group which cannot be underestimated.

Sloane is no mitchell. not even close. he'd be another j stevens for the club - slightly better and a better leader. if we can fit him in without costing us another fa then why not though - the kids need a leader and class in the midfield.

His leadership alone would make a big difference, he is also great at centre bounces and around the ground clearances. We have a solid group of players coming through and will have another group of kids in the next few years. These players need a role model to lead the way. Seb Ross, Geary, Newnes, Bruce, Weller and Gilbert are not going to show the other players what is required to develop into great AFL players. No use having money in the Salary cap bring him in if we can. With his harness and leadership It will be like having Lenny Hayes back for 4 years, his on field and off field influence will make all our players better.

I can't help but think that him and his family being Saint fans will count for little. We've tried to lure him before for big coin and he still re-signed with the Crows.

Hawthorn would be the front runners, as they're a destination club, whereas we are anything but. That being said, we have a lot more cap space, so we would be in pole-position to give him an offer that he couldn't possibly refuse. But, at what cost would that be to our future list management.

I have heard a whisper that Gaff will either re-sign with the Eagles or be at Hawthorn.
At this point only has interest in the Hawks.
It is going to continue to be difficult to lure who we want to our struggling club without BIG coin. Only money will talk.
