The majority of pundits claim he doesn't have the experience to do the senior job at St Kilda. So if he wants to be a senior coach he has to be allowed to do an apprenticeship elsewhere... even if it is with the ferals. I'm sure the Saints board and all of our supporters would love Robbie to become ...

I have no problem with a coach who didn't have a stellar career as a player. Obviously being a good coach is more about having outstanding people skills, communication skills and tactical skills. But I do think showing a bit of ticker as a player is essential in a coach and I'm not sure Watters mee...

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/mr-motivation-20091124-j51o.html This link is to a recent interview with Richardson; our new front runner. Gives a pretty good idea of what he'd be like as a coach. 114 games with the ferals and just a plodder but does have an impressive record in player develop...

I think Harves might be down the list in terms of experience so I'd be surprised if he got it. Watters - 2 flags in the WAFL, 2 flags in the AFL as assisstant. Apart from the 21 seasons in the AFL as a player Harvey has 3 years experience as an assistant coach. He was at Carlton as a junior develop...

All first time coaches grow into the job and I don't think you can dismiss Banger out of hand just because he's not a naturally gifted orator. Yabby Jeans was a quiet self conscious sort of bloke when he started out. You don't play 383 games of league footy over 21 seasons, win two Brownlows and cap...

The trouble is that every Mrs. Average Plum Duff from Rowville to Altona believes entirely in the myth that the St Kilda Football Club lacks respect for women. This widespread, unquestioning belief encourages the media to feed this stereotype because the public loves to trawl through this sort of ti...

I don't share your generous assessment of Scott Watters as an AFL player. He was never a superstar in the mould of Blight, Matthews or Hird or a tough, uncompromising winner like Sheedy, Worsfold or Hafey. Nor do I believe that he is a clearly superior candidate for a senior coaching position. Other...

Whats his coaching ability like?? Took over a premiership side at Subiaco in The WAFL from Peter German, (currently coaching in the VFL). German coached them to flags in 2004-2006 and Watters won three in a row from 2007. Senior players at Subi = Michael Rix & Des Headland. So a great coaching ...

109 games at AFL level. Delisted after 46 games with the Eagles; then played 37 in Sydney before going home to WA when the Dockers started up. Averaged about 18 touches per game. Plenty of quality coaches were never stars however most of this breed were renowned as tough competitors... Laidley, the ...

"The real error was in not getting something for Ball, and using that + pick 16 that we used for Lovett, on Burgoyne, who in my book was a step above Ball last night." Ball is a conniving little user who plays for an opposition club. His behaviour at the time of his transfer was contemptib...

Umpires aren't cheats and anyone who thinks so is delusional. Whenever there is a loss, it's always blamed on the umpires, but not the 22 players on the field. Umpiring decisions might affect the game, but the only thing which determined the result tonight were the 44 players on the field. Delusion...

I don't think it's worth worrying about. I don't expect attitudes will change much even if we do win it this year. Witness the hogwash around Hawthorn's victory in 2008 against 'the saviours of football as we know it'. The AFL even changed the rules to make it less likely to happen again and this ye...

Gary 'The rules don't apply to me?' Ablett is a sook. A quick , talented sook with great evasive skills and impeccable disposal but a sook nonetheless. He only likes to play the game on his terms and gets put out if the coach doesn't play him inthe middle, his team mates fail to feed him his quota o...

Blakey was pretty quiet... not to say that he didn't do his job... just that he often takes a few steadying marks or makes position for an outlet pass but he was hardly sighted all night. Gilbo also looks half a notch below his very best. A bit down on confidence with his kicking and not taking on t...

"I dont know but he is a right footer." Long silence... The question is still valid though. You would think that by the time players got to this level they would have reached a passable standard with their 'wrong' foot. Dancers and musicians, particularly drummers, do a lot of cross...

Great game... easily his best for the club. Could be a quality player for us in the future; especially if someone can straighten out his kicking when forced to use the opposite foot. Why is it that left footers so often can't kick on the other foot?

Two years ago we were struggling and everyone was saying our premiership window had closed, we've just had a rebuild. And we'll have to rebuild again like every other side but our time is now! IMHO this is the best list we've assembled since the glory years circa 66. We have the administration in pl...
