Re: May not be popular

Do you enjoy the fact great players have left our club and gone to other clubs and enjoyed real success. Is it not a pity, in fact for me gut wrenching to see saints champions singing other songs whilst we are at rock bottom. Selling your soul for a promise is a huge risk, IMO some seem to think be...

Re: Hit outs

Total football Mart, you be able to do it all to some degree. Lucky we don't have any 6 6 nothing's,. Our tall young have some sort of potential about them. Longer is my preference ATM as he appears to have the footy smarts. Our other rucks aren't as one dimensional as Warmock so I assume you think ...

Strange OP. Love a good hitout to advantage but must have missed all the threads stating a ruck man only needs to win taps and not do anything else.

Re: Thought the night reflected poorly on the coaching

System vs System You can tell which is more effective by looking at the movement of the footy, which In turn effects ease of scoring opportunities thus scoring efficiency Out movement fwd was irregular, haphazard or chaotic They moved the ball with ease? Re: Billy Longer

There was one contested ball I particularly liked- Billy had the vision and naus to knock the ball to the advantage of one of our runners (think the player he hit it two might have made a mess of it though...). Not a hit out to advantage but one of those valued knock ons from a contested situation t...

Outoing president, outgoing CEO. Hopefully some creative accounting to wipe the slate and painting a case for the incoming exec to put pressure on the AFL to assist in righting the wrongs of poor stadium deal and getting invest in Moorabbin. Re: Benefits of Tap Ruckman !

A tap ruckman might net you an extra handful of clearances. Any guess as to what you might do with those clearances. The correlation between winning clearances and scoring is weak at best. Given the choice between winning and losing the tap, you'd take the win. If the choice is between a good playe...

Based entirely on guesswork published on a very dodgy looking site.

From http://www.therichest.org/sports/highest-paid-afl-players/ This list as of Sept 2011.... As of 2010 only four AFL players earned more than $900,000, even with the inclusion of AFL-approved club marketing payments. The salaries include club payments for marketing services known as Additional Se...

Re: Brendon Goddard set to sign with Essendon

So our whole team performance for the last 5 years has been because of goddard? If no one else could hit a target, goodard must be the greatest footballer in the entire history of the game to lift the saints to some pretty good levels. we should have paid him $5mill/year and the rest split between ...

Re: Brendon Goddard set to sign with Essendon

Surely people can see our club is being freaking necessarily ruthless for the first time in forever. I'm not sure what Eddie has to do with that. I hate that it comes to this, but there's clearly a plan in place, one it seems BJ doesn't want a part of/fit into. Yup, line in the sand. Not with the l...

Haven't had time to read the papers today- has this been reported elsewhere or is it Barrett speculation? Seems an odd way to negotiate unless club and and player are miles apart. Attack is clearly at the expense of defense. We had one good week against essendon but that's about it. What you've written sounds more like sydney than us. We score more but we also have more scored against us. Adelaide, north, Brisbane as pointed out above. I'm hopeful against Sydney but think the...

How about "Wally", because he is one for mucking up on the turps twice, and because it's rhyming Aussie slang for your shout (Wally Grout). He's obviously been involved in buying some rounds during his short career. BTW is anyone else disturbed by the fact he blew .08 the morning after? M...

Re: Jack Steven suspended for failing breath test

Seems to be a lot of assumptions on here. Who was to say he went out for a wild night of partying after a game? They may have gone to a team mates place to have a few drinks to unwind. Being 0.08 is hardly roll down drunk. Was he wrong? Of course he bloomin' was. No doubt. He showed how immature an...

Re: Scott blames the mids, is that entirely fair?

We've lost our one strength, that run off half back we could always rely on a couple of years ago. Remember when Gilbert, Goddard, Fisher, Gwilt were each getting their 20 -25 possessions plus and running and bouncing or kicking the ball well clear and setting play up. Let's hope we can get it back...

Re: Scott blames the mids, is that entirely fair?

Defensively, the midfield was appalling. The run that North had through the middle was extraordinary. Clearance stats are merely one part of a midfields responsibilities. North zoned up really well through the middle, and none of our mids really tried to take them on and break a line. Defensively o...
