Well, as it stands, we have no Roo, no Kosi, and no third tall. So something has to give!! I'd support two younger talls come in to reduce the pressure on them both, but obviously Lynch is out of the question (can someone confirm he can't come straight in?). A tall forward line of McEvoy or Gardiner...

Players also play outside of the seniors and it is a chance for us to assess what we think of the way they move, skill, how they attack the ball and so forth. Cahill won't make it - feel free to revisit in time. He's deep outside of our best 30 so probably best to focus on those that will. The one t...

To be honest, it sounds reasonably spot on to me. Most articles are a tad negative about sides - it creates news stories. Articles tend to follow 'momentum' as well - Geelong escapes the negativity becasue of the premiership. Hawthorn are apparently on the way back and the Dogs and Crows on the way ...

This garbage about giving up your first pick and claiming whatever happens is irrelevant because we picked up Walsh is the biggest laugh I've heard. Picking up Walsh was just the extra that we needed given our success in the past half decade and the lack of quality draft picks. Giving up our first p...

After the initial shock of hearing Pattison's name called and a few curse words, I actually think the concept of picking insurance was very astute. Whether he is good enough to back that up will be the key. I'd like to see McEvoy and Pattison play relatively frequently next year and conserve the old...

I'm not a huge fan of the topping up approach as it ultimately leads to a dwindling of the natural progression of your list. Still, I wouldn't exactly criticise one by one the selections we've made - but I think that's the actual problem: yes, taking an experienced player at a later pick will always...

STOP putting so much pressure on him. Coleman medal will do, gees. To ask him to also kick the winning goal in the GF and win the Chas is a bit much  Footy is nothing without hope and I love the fact that, even though he may not amount to anything, he is pumping us all up a bit. If his debut ac...

Having absolutely no reflection on it is not good for the soul! I was straight back on the bike in some respects, listening to talk back and the like, but Cats celebrations, replay of the game itself, and reminiscing on missed opportunities are still steps to be taken. Soon enough and we'll be in th...

See, Other Thommo has nailed it and knows where it's at - we should be back to talking flags, Brownlows, and Colemans. Most of which the big ginge has already parcelled up for 2010. Ha ha - the poor kid - he has no expectations from Saints fans!! Still, that's the price when you sign up when you loo...

Well, I for one, hope we keep Ball and Goose. We need Ball's contested footy - if he goes, it will just turn to Armitage to step up, but I still think we'll miss Ball and he'll be an excellent pick up for Melbourne (espec for free). Goose gives us the tall back up that we are probably really lacking...

That is true. If the need for a solid HBF type arises, then he'll be right in the mix. I think that's clear from his record. i don't quite understand the get rid of him sentiment on Saintsational. I'm not particularly surprised though - I think some of the reporting back on the Zebras seemed to comp...

But he may have just nominated Collingwood as first choice rather than excluding all others. Still, I'm sure he didn't quite have Melbourne in mind. Surely, however, it's still a reasonably easy sell by the Dees. Apart from the lack of supporters, success, and anything that nears a real footy club. ...

Both Miles and Simpkin will be promoted IMO. Miles looks nice and solid and went past a few on the list this year. Perception-wise (for fans), he probably suffers from being a bit of a stock player rather than being super skilled or pacy etc. Could be a reasonable HBF in my opinion, but might suffer...

I don't understand why people get so upset with opinion pieces by journos. They have to write/say something - most things will not be perfectly in line with the wants of all 16 clubs' supporters. All we can do is wait and see what happens. I'm sure Ball won't be influenced by the Herald Sun. I hope ...

FFS. Ha ha. Listening to Lyon on 3AW on the Wednesday following, I took Lyon's comments on Ball's gametime as a 'the midfield coach effed up'. I'm not sure that he was directly apportioning blame, but he certainly didn't sound happy about it. I was surprised at the time - it was a little more honest...

Nice comments Skeptic - I agree with that. A few things have been troubling me about all of this. Whether we as supporters should just suck it up and wait for the board and the coach to handle behind the scenes or not, I agree with one or two others. Ross doesn't need to send me a letter - I'd just ...

In addition to what I've said above, and in addition to the above posters, I don't blame Ball for wanting out. Who knows the actual conversations with Ball and Lyon. I certainly don't. I suspect that Ross has suggested that he's no certainty to play - which I probably don't understand. Maybe I'm bia...

Well, I for one hope that a deal isn't satisfactory and that he decides to stay rather than going into the PSD. Wishful thinking? Maybe. I'm still confused by most of this. I watched him very closely in recent years as one of my favourite players and particularly this year as a member of my DT - yep...

Happy enough with him in the squad, but will await his finals form, which is where it counts. Will also await the remainder of the week to see how the other trades vs draft picks measures up. Potentially over the odds at 16, but we shall see what happens with Ball, Jolly, and Burgoyne. Ball leaving ...
