Re: Where do our 3 top 20 picks come from this year??
I'm thinking they wont trade away their top pick...it's pretty prized, but could possibly upgrade picks 2 and 3 with another club and include players...there are tons of possibilities...I just have no idea which players may be dangled as trade fodder...Stanley to Port has been mooted, and it'd be go...

Re: Some players have improved in 2014
I Agree Bergholt...I'm not sold on Webster yet, he leaks goals and gets beaten 1 on 1 a lot of the time...In saying that, he was awarded the best young talent by his peers, has good pace and is a good size...but like all the the younger players, he still has to prove he can be a consistent high qual...

Re: Some players have improved in 2014
Not convinced on Weller as an AFL midfielder...lets not forget he has had 3 years development prior to coming to the saints and is nearly up to 40 AFL games in total...Not one of our 'Young' brigade has that many Games, the nearest is Jack newnes in the high 30's. I'm not saying he could turn out to...

Where do our 3 top 20 picks come from this year??
I'm just looking forwards a little to the end of season, and of the stated goal by C Pelchen et al...to obtain another 3 top 20 draft picks...it's certainly an exciting prospect and further evidence of our total rebuilding of the list, but i'm really scratching my head wondering how we will conjure ...

Re: T ommy Lee - footy crappifieds
Why did Bruce, who is a backman, have some impact and Lee had none. We were still playing pathetically butrt he had a dip. Lee is far to slow for AFL footy at the moment and shouldnt have been picked anyway. His form was poor apart from a practice game. Shouldnt even count them. And to still be bla...

Re: Positives
Positives this year are the number of times we have had young, sometimes very young players in the 'best' for St Kilda...Webster, newnes, shenton, dunstan, billings, hickey, Saunders, Wright, curren and now add Ross!! These are great signs! Hardly any youngsters were in the 'best' last year...yes th...

Re: Injury Update
Ideal scenario, both hickey and wright make a smooth transition thru the vfl and get 3-4 senior games at seasons end to finish the year on a good note and pump in a few more games...what do people think if fisher comes back in and plays half a dozen games showing something...that will be interesting...

Re: St Kilda to adopt Port draft model
I reckon both Geelong and the hawks are heading for a big fall in the not too distant future...it'll happen, maybe not quite as bad as ours but its inevitable...great core's just don't get replaced, the lack of top end talent drafted into both those teams in the last 5 years means there heading for ...

Finding the right balance of "mature bodies"
For clubs rebuilding or in recent times the two new start up clubs, this intangible balance of having enough mature bodies goes a fair way to dictating competitiveness...I'm as guilty as any in regularly calling for the likes of CJ or Farrem Ray being ditched and just pumping as many games into the ...

Re: When does rock bottom hit?
Going on pressers from AR; he seems to rate steven, Gilbert and Armo in that mid aged group, he's stressed on a number of occasions how the club isn't going to "Throw away" it's experience...so reading between the lines, it'll be injury prone vets Schneider, fisher who could be in trouble ...

Re: Fix our kicking fix our team
Just about every player currently playing is looking crapper than they either are or could be, it's unfortunately what happens when teams go thru a bottoming out and are copping flogging a week in week out!! Confidence goes and so does seemingly time and space! It's gotten very ugly post NZ and our ...

Re: End of season delistings
Richo seems pretty spooked by the Melbourne debacle for going 'to young' in some of his pressers!! Intriguing to see who will be shown the door. I reckon only durable b grade plus experience is worth keeping

It's been a train wreck ever since that bloody loss to the lions in Wellington!! I just wonder how much of a psychological blow that was after the whole place was absolutely buzzing after the bombers win...the boys must have come back so flat after that trip! The nature of our losses and the drop in...

Re: Not Got A Game
Mark worth will get a few games and I'm sure will be given another full pre season and next year to show something, white may get a game right at the death, ditto another pre season and next year, Minch is in trouble, Holmes not afl this year, Pierce maybe a game or two at the death? (Think there is...

Tommy Curren
Just putting out some thoughts on tommy currens season...it's been disappointing to see his form dry up and now get dropped... 1. Feel like at times he could have been given more of a normal midfield role without the tagging duties to keep building his confidence. He's a ball winner and good clearan...

Re: Webster
Very disappointing for jimmy Webster to be dropped due to disciplinary reasons...I thought one of the best aspects of the year has been the attitude and 'no dickheads' approach from our young players...with so little information to go on, it's impossible to know exactly what to think other than just...

Gilbert gears and Eli certainly are looking like season long injuries. In Gilbert's case, I really hope they don't rush him and that his foot heals right up and gets strong!!

Don't agree with every selection, and hope roo might still go on in 2016, but like the positivity of the thread!! We've certainly brought in some talent, fingers crossed with luck, good development we can rise sooner rather than later!

Re: Team vs Collingwood
I thought two of our young guns, both Webster and Newnes were very lucky to hold their positions after very average games against Hawks and then Blues...Newnes had a really strong rebound against the Suns, whilst Webster again looked rushed, lost 1 on 1's and gave away free kicks, even his disposal ...

Re: 'Go again Lenny' says Coach
Lenny is still our best inside midfielder, full stop! If he can be convinced to go around again, he makes our team better, both when it's struggling and when we're going well...he is holding no one back in their development. If young midfielders can't displace Jones, Ray, Schneider, all of whom are ...

Re: Saints still sorting things out - The Age
Great article, really interesting insight, and puts into the spotlight an uncomfortable truth for a couple of our players...I thinkfrom the list clog group, the only players who on form should be just about automatic picks are Roo, Joey and Lenny, and that goes for next year as well. They are clearl...

Re: Champion data - Delaney ranked #1 one on one contests in
I think Delaney has gone from strength to strength since rd 1. He's been good in 1 on 1 since the very first game, particularly that 1 out, body on vody contest...what's been even more pleasing is the way he has grown in confiedence and we've seen a bit more of his repetoire. He's started to clunk s...
