Re: Gresh rising star chance?

I think gresh is probably going to fall into that 3rd spot.
1 Mills, 2 parish (undeserved and expected), 3 will be between Gresh and Daniel.

i think the only way gresh could win it would be if we made finals and he had 3 more games like the carlton one.

Re: 2016 Draft and Trade thread

I know Hawthorn and Carlton are into him but why are we not interested in Sydney's Tom Mitchell ? His manager has been shopping him around. I know he's good and has tagging ability but do we need another "short" midfielder? we've already got our own version in seb ross. I reckon we are be...

Re: Maverick Weller

After reading Emma Quayles last article on who should be the next captain of the saints. I think mav would be a fantastic choice. Now without sounding deep and meaningful but i think he represents everything RIcho wants in his players and game plan. Players who give it 110% each week, pressure press...

Re: Is Wright doing enough?

I think he offers the perfect flexibility. He allows players to rest up forward whilst he goes down back, allows minch to push up the ground when he goes forward. Hes a tough nut and has done a mav weller and worked his arse off to get where he is now so much respect to the kid. i reckon you have to...

Re: Running Backs hypothetical

i think you gotta roll with Gears (lock down), Webster for his height on their 3rd tall, Savage and Newnes for their elite kicking. Although with that in mind i do see wright being the future geary and white becoming a better version of webster. Mckenzies a weird one i cant get a read on him yet.

Re: Changes v Blues

i think now that finishing in the top 8 is now too tough of an ask i wouldn't mind seeing the selection committee over the next 4 weeks trial; Eli, Shenton, White, Rice all the kids basically in a more beneficial roles. not just for development but also for trade value as well. we are set to be quit...

Re: Billings.

I get the skill set the kid has and the fact he will be an outside player. but really hasnt set the world on fire from that draft. Bont, Cripps, Merrett (very similar player) and others like Dunstan and Acres have really kicked it up a notch this year. in this bracket you have 3 blokes that will pro...

Re: Goal kicking

Was absolutely dreadful. i can handle a half chance missing or even a pure defender having a shot. But the most infuriating thing is when Billings, Roo, Bruce and Membrey are missing bread and butter shots.

Re: Some players are retaining spots....

My big thing ive been on all year is that the role changes and structure has hurt him down forward. Hes playing as a second ruck and copping the best defender, hes only 197cm and has to bang with the likes of other #1 rucks in the comp of which even the back ups are a inch or two taller. He seems to...

Re: Team v Nth

Considering this is a season defining game youve got to take in your best 22. i think the coaching staff said last week that minch was being rested. based on structure having Wright in the side allows minch to play forward and midfield as they can move wright fwd/back. I'm all for developing the jac...

Re: Why do people want to trade Longer?

Yeah i think its a bit like the Ross and Hickey rumors last year. its purely currency based because you could easily trade him to someone like Richmond or GC and get something good back in return. Also other factors like lack of game time and things like that play its part also. the other issue is n...

Re: JACK STEELE!!

Would love to have the Superman the man of Steele at the club. Big bodied mid. Would be interesting if we could do a Carlton style deal and trade our first and get the others mentioned like Marchbank and Stewart also. If we could turn our first (as the main piece) into multiple players like that it ...

Re: For those who don't want us to make the finals this year

^^^^ you are exactly right on both counts. just to add to it i can see both angles. i think the biggest worry for me is that we may jump the gun too early and do a port adelaide. This may cause us to think we are better than we really are. realistically we have had a favourable draw we get to play a...

Re: Squad v Demons

they are going for a more team style defense, but it does require a more competitive effort down back compared to the last 2 games. i think with the dees you really only have to lock down Garlett and Hogan. the handy thing is against the dees when the pressure is on they just bang it in long to hoga...

i think this might be the end for Delaney. he filled a role whilst on the list. but can you see him staying when we are in desparate need for talls down back and hes been dropped? same goes for tom lee. if they cant get a game now i dont think they ever will. theyve done their bit for the club. Lee ...

wouldnt mind seeing him play in joeys role off half back just to see if there's versatility in his game. i think end of the day he will develop into a Brett Deledio type so...lets see what he can do.

yeah i think with gilbo we have to accept the bad with the good. his disposal is 50/50 at best, but hes willing to take the game on. love him or hate him is bloody good fun to watch as he keeps the relationship on its toes.

That carlisle trade is looking the goods at this very stage. Greshams composure is outstanding very rarely makes the wrong decision. Only knock on him is his "on the run" kicking. Seems to be getting better week by week. Finally his clinical finish in the last qtr gets more impressive ever...

hes certainly a handy back up when theres injuries. thought he kept his cool and played very well when the game was on the line in that last quarter. He struggled 1-1 with hawkins but i dont think many backs can match hawkins anyways. out of him and Lee id certainly keep delaney on the list as a bac...

Re: Will Billings be our Judd

I'm not sure if this comparison has been brought up but i think Billings best case scenario is that he turns out to be a Left footed version of Deledio. I reckon billings will be a late bloomer and we have to hope thats the case because blokes like Cripps (pretty sure he was that draft) and Bontempe...
