Here's another idea Ross- Teach the players to kick

Post: # 1067065Post Enrico_Misso »

Teach them how to #$%$ing kick

How many easy shots have we missed?
Can't kick a set shot.
Can't even kick a goal running straight into an open goal from 25m.
How much do we pay guys like Schneider to miss from 25m?

It's about time we practised kicking.
And practised kicking
And then practise some more
.

I don't give a shyte if some physio with a clipboard hanging out his arse says practising goalkicking might cause soft tissue injuries.
If you don't kick goals you don't win matches.
We aren't kicking goals.

We miss targets by hand as well.

The reason for the poor kicking, is that we have far too many players on the list with poor skills.

Too late to teach them how to kick now. As the old saying goes, "You can't make chocolate out of s***"

Saw Schneider kicking out that quarter.. his a forward.. seriously. It seems like we need to be 10 goals down for us to think 'oh crap we have to attack'. Ross's game plan is useless now.

Schneider must think it is the 2009 Grand Final

That's unfair. He also kicked badly in the 2010 replay.

Kicking for goal is as much mental as anything and it's very clear that our group and especially some of those in it are mentally/emotionally/spiritually "broken"/shattered/shot.
The GF's have obviously had such an impact on them that they just want to dig themselves a hole and hide in it and would rather have a root-canal than have a shot for goal.

Gilbert a prime example.

They've failed big time on the biggest stage of all and want to, as I said, dig themselves a hole and hide in it. Shooting for goal is the last thing they want to do at the moment, hence our dreadful conversion this year.
They don't need to practise it, they need a shrink/priest/guru, whatever, to get their heads right and bury their demons.
All the practise in the world won't help until that happens.

Yeah true.

At least he's consistent and we know what to expect.

Nothing is reliable on this forum.

Our disposal has always been ordinary - in 2009 and 2010 it was average.

it is just shown up even more because our pedestrian pace wont allow us to break a zone and our switches are so slow.

We are in a world of trouble because our 09 and 10 gameplan has been overtaken.

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

When Tudor first started with the saints a few years back (2008?) he was astounded we didn't have a kicking coach....Geelong certainly did.
May be another area that has been short-cutted to polish the bottom line.

So many poor kicks that it impacts on their confindence as they know they are poor..

So much for the adage 'draft athletes'...we haven't managed to do too much of that either !!

Hey who changed the title of this thread ??????

It now says "Teach the players to kick long"
I never had that in the original title.
Who added that bit?

That totally misrepresents my point.

My topic was Teach the players how to kick

We can't hit targets from 30m or kick goals from 25m.
That is what cost us tonight.

Kicking long to a contest is the hard way.
Kicking to players in space and then finishing off with accurate kicks is what we need to do.

Long bombs to our non existent full forward is NOT the answer.

MOD(s) - IN FUTURE PLEASE DON'T TAMPER WITH MY POSTS TO TWIST IT INTO SOMETHING I NEVER SAID AND DON'T BELIEVE

Major apologies. The site was full of ambiguous thread titles and I was cleaning it up for ease of navigation. I mucked this one up. Very sorry. It has been changed.
