"of" is not "have"
This post is intended as advice to those posters who are young and still attending schools
I have noted lately that there have been a lot of posters who substitute "of" for "have".......while the two words kind of sound alike they do not have the same meaning...
I will give a few examples....
1. He should OF kicked to Hayes.........instead of writing he should HAVE kicked it to Hayes
2. He would OF hated the attention .....instead of writing he would HAVE hated the attention
3. I would OF loved to watch it live....instead of writing I would HAVE loved to watch it live
etc..........................................................

Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Personally, I've been extremely bothered with the high incidence of split infinitives and hanging participles in the posts of some of the younger folk on this forum.
Not to mention the recurring failure to use the subjunctive mood properly.
Pitiful..........

Some grammar nazis believe - drawing on Latin precedents - that verb forms like "to go", "to run", etc need to be treated as if they were one word.hungry for a premiership wrote:What's a split infinitive?
Hence, "to unfairly bag Jason Gram" should be written as "to bag Jason Gram unfairly".
Personally, I don't think it matters, but some people get worked up about it: especially in the US, for some reason.
Anyway, you can't say you don't learn anything from my posts!

But the most famous sentence in American culture has a split infinitive.meher baba wrote:Some grammar nazis believe - drawing on Latin precedents - that verb forms like "to go", "to run", etc need to be treated as if they were one word.hungry for a premiership wrote:What's a split infinitive?

When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss
