Delist Walsh

Post: # 1120683Post saintspremiers »

Been on the list for 2 seasons, how much more time does he need?

Ross ain't a fool.

He blooded plenty this season, but there is a reason it wasn't Walsh.

I reckon he's too slow and not nimble enough for AFL.

It's time IMO.

They should have played him against Gold Coast or Freo.
If we beat Syd next week they should play him against North in a "junk" game.

Hey Plugger and others. For the last 4 weeks we have not played ONE AFL first year player. Yes he has played first year players at times but they always seem to be the ones to get dropped. He has no vision for the future, look how Steven has blossomed due to Lenny's terrible injury, amazing what a few games in a row can do for a young player's confidence. There is no way we can win it from the bottom four in the finals and we will go into next year with our second year players with not too many games of experience.
Of course he will again prop up our list with a couple of players from other clubs who never could get regular games with their teams. This is not a whinge but just a fact of how Ross coaches. Yes our last 2 years have been great getting us into 3 grand finals but the writing was on the wall after last years replay.

I believe the coach and the selectors pick the team they think is most likely to win the next game. They should, and I believe they do, select the best team on form, talent and performance.

If we were Richmond, Port, Melbourne, the dogs, etc, I would be selecting the team that I thought was most likely to win in 2012 or beyond.

I do not believe it is the time to select players into the seniors to 'see how they go' or on 'potential' unless it is necessary.

I think MG has shown enough that he should be in the seniors, but the coach doesn't, and I'm happy with that.

I do not always agree with the coach, and yes I do get angry when players don't have 100% disposal accuracy, and I do get annoyed when they miss from 30m out directly in front, but sadly our saints players are flesh and blood and prone to things like pressure, weariness, stress and other human frailties.

what writing on the wall? I believe that the game against collingwood was winnable. I believe we have won 8/11 games since our disastrous start to the season. I believe we were mentally weak for the first 3 months of 2011.

I believe that we are close to achieving the mental strength that is required for a finals campaign.

I hate it when the best 22 are selected and we win 6 in a row.

Maybe if Tommy had played on Friday night we would've won. And
Maybe we will win the flag also this year. Lots of maybes.

... i don't think it was a mental weakness issue , more the fact that the 'loss' was handled incorrectly (which i ranted and raved like a madman about back then)
... but , thank god , then was then and now is now

again , imo , the club has dragged momentum into the present moment , and much kudos to them for the effort
( i didn't believe they could or would)

... take the risk/s , ride the momentum footy is our only chance (again , imo) to pinch a flag this year

simply hitting targets and kicking straight could / would create a self fullfilling momentum expansion ... couple that with an all or nothing mindset , and who knows

Onya saints ... go hard .... and thanks.

whilst i'm not into this TW hysteria...

i do get frustrated when they pick a player like Blake as the sub despite having no clear role

there have been plenty of APPROPRIATE opportunities to play the kids that some forumites have been calling for

Yes we had won 6 in a row which was a top effort but please tell me which of those 6 teams will make the finals? West Coast certainly but who were the other 5 we beat. My concern is for the next 2 to 3 years when our best players will be getting close to 30.
Also Baker, Blake, Kosi and Gram to name four may go at the end of the year, if so who of our younger players are ready to step in to replace them? Yes, have a go at me by all means, that's what a forum is for and I know some of our first year players have had injuries but the fact is our coach does not favor youth very often.
By the way Ross why was Davis on his own all night???? Every one there was saying, who in hell is on him? 36 possessions, 28 on his own and often 10 to 20 metres away from anyone. He cut us to pieces in a game where we only go beaten by 3 goals and had one more scoring shot than them, yes in my humble opinion very average coaching.

It's a f%$#ing outrage a guy that had not played footy until 2 years ago can't get a senior game. He should crack the s***s and walk. Who would want to play a sport that you are required to learn before being played on the senior list. He is the next Tony Lockett only better and no one is noticing his huge latent talent that only shows in senior games. Disgraceful saints.
