So in that prelim team we had out Frankie, Hamill, Kosi and Penny against the Swans who basically had no injuries and a full team? We really didn't have a hope did we?skeptic wrote:very underrated in the latter part of his career
not many people realise how great a loss he was in the 2005 pre-lim
IMO given the form he was in... every bit a big a loss as Kosi and Hamil

Frankie had very good footskills too. In that prelim against the Swans we got killed in the midfield in the last quarter.SaintPav wrote:oh yeah and Sammy Fisher was out as well.SaintPav wrote:So in that prelim team we had out Frankie, Hamill, Kosi and Penny against the Swans who basically had no injuries and a full team? Wasn't Leigh Fisher the good Fish back then?!SaintPav wrote:oh yeah and Sammy Fisher was out as well.SaintPav wrote:So in that prelim team we had out Frankie, Hamill, Kosi and Penny against the Swans who basically had no injuries and a full team? my how the worm turns.
I bought a shirt from Target once.
It had a hard tag on it too.
I know how Dal feels.

I don't think anyone said he was elite, but we could do with a few more players who can kick both sides in the team at the moment, or for that matter, who can kick well on the preferred.St Lenny wrote:Bigger loss than Koz or Hamill, you have to be kidding me. Frankie was alway a GOP. Great guy, club man etc, but not up with the elite by a long shot.
In the semi against Adelaide in 2005, he got 19 possessions and took 8 marks and was one of the best. He would not have let Ryan O'Keefe have a birthday on the forward line, and he won the game for the Swans.
As I have said so many times, give me a team of players who can kick the ball to each other on both sides and I'll show you a premiership side. You don't need stars everywhere who can win the ball, just a few who give it to teammates who deliver to another teammate. The turnover will kill the most star studded team.
Alas, his hammy had gone by then (Round 9, 2004). If you saw him play his first 9 games, you would know what a loss he was. Lost pace after the ops and that was that. Sam, in his first year, was already an excellent player, also having a beauty against Adelaide, who until that stage, looked certain to play off.Wasn't Leigh Fisher the good Fish back then?!

not quite. Sammy Fisher had a very good Qualifying final against the Crows but played with a broken foot which finally gave way.duckduckduckgoose wrote:Wasn't Leigh Fisher the good Fish back then?!SaintPav wrote:oh yeah and Sammy Fisher was out as well.SaintPav wrote:So in that prelim team we had out Frankie, Hamill, Kosi and Penny against the Swans who basically had no injuries and a full team? The stonecats have been the best side all year.
It wasnt our day today.
Turning point was when big ladey lined up for an absolute soda and missed. ( would of put us down by 5 just before half time) they then took 3 kicks from the kick in to kick a goal, got the next clearance and goal and then the first goal after half time and never looked back.
As for old Franky, 80% that he just played his last game and looked very sore and proppy on his calf.
